Christina Aguilera joined James Corden for his second Carpool Karaoke Primetime Special. The 37-year-old pop diva sang a few of her hits like “Fighter,” and “Genie in a Bottle,” and opened up about her Mickey Mouse Club days.
She revealed that she and Britney Spears both had crushes on Justin Timberlake and thought that Ryan Gosling probably has a crush on Britney.
“Even then, at that age, could you find yourself get lost in Ryan Gosling’s eyes?” Corden wondered. “I think there were crushes, but I wasn’t on that train,” Aguilera answered.
“Um, I think, well there was like a –me and Britney were, you know, like… well, you know, there was like a thing back then,” she admitted. “Oh my god, you’re going in!”
“It was a good time,” she said. “Are we saying Timberlake was the main dude in the MMC?” the TV host asked. “He had swag, I have to say,” she recalled. “[Even] back then, he had swag.”
As for Gosling, the “Beautiful” singer said that while many girls had a crush on him, his heart was reserved especially for one member. “I know Ryan actually, pretty much, he did have actually have a crush on Britney,” she revealed. “I mean, I think so! I think so. I don’t know…” “She must be regretting that,” Corden responded.
“No! She got Justin!” the music icon said. “They were like a big ol’ couple.” “Oh, yeah, you’re right, that worked out wonderfully,” Corden sarcastically replied. “It worked out wonderfully for everybody!”
Later in the segment, the two were joined by Life of the Party star and Aguilera’s costar, Melissa McCarthy, who popped in to sing Redman’s verse in Aguilera’s hit single “Dirrty.” The Grammy award-winning artist then taught Corden and McCarthy how to sing like a true diva.
