The girl group of superheroes we loved during our childhood will be coming back to our TV screens, but this time a bit older and wiser.
The CW with Heather Regnier and Diablo Cody are working on a live-action version of the classic Cartoon Network series that ran from 1998 to 2005.
The original The Powerpuff Girls was created by Craig McCracken and it was about three kindergarten-aged girls, Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup, who were accidentally created when Professor Utonium combined sugar, spice, and everything nice with a mystery chemical known as Chemical X. The superpower girls were called upon by the city of Townsville, USA’s mayor to fight crime.
In addition to the series, The Powerpuff Girls Movie was released in 2002, and Cartoon Network aired a rebooted animated series in 2016 with the third season ending in June 2019.
In the new live-action version, Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup will be twentysomethings who are bitter about losing their childhood to stop bad guys, but to save the world, they have to reunite.
