James Gunn’s Superman is one of the most exciting new superhero blockbusters in the works right now, and he just shared the first look with the world. David Corenswet is suiting up to save the day as the next Clark Kent in the first look at this highly-anticipated film.

Superman in the new film has been described as “the embodiment of truth, justice and the American way, guided by human kindness in a world that sees kindness as old-fashioned”, and we’ll get to see him trying to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his upbringing as Clark Kent in Smallville, Kansas.

David Corenswet is gearing up to lead this film, and the first-look photo shows him putting on his suit, while a giant pink beam flies over the night sky, threatening to destroy the city. Gunn first shared the photo on the social media platform Threads and wrote, “The above photo was taken on set by Jess Miglio and was entirely in-camera.”

Superman is scheduled to hit the theaters on July 11, 2025, and its cast also includes Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Milly Alcock as Supergirl, Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern/Guy Gardner, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, and Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific.
