Shortly after the second season of How I Met Your Father ended its run on Hulu, the streamer revealed what the future has in store for this show. The spin-off inspired by the beloved sitcom How I Met Your Mother won’t return for its third season after the streaming giant announced its cancelation.

How I Met Your Father centered on Sophie Tompkins, who set her son down to tell him the story of how she met his father almost three decades ago. Her tale took us back to 2021 when her close-knit group of friends was in the midst of figuring out what they wanted out of life and how to fall in love in the age of dating apps and limitless options.

Hilary Duff and Kim Cattrall played different versions of Sophie – and they were in pretty good company. The show’s cast also included Chris Lowell, Francia Raisa, Tom Ainsley, Tien Tran, and Suraj Sharma, while several How I Met Your Mother stars made a cameo, including Cobie Smulders and Neil Patrick Harris.

The show’s executive producer Craig Thomas took to social media to thank its “wonderful cast and crew who worked so hard” to make this series happen and expressed gratitude to fans who watched the first two seasons.
