It’s been almost two decades since Jennifer Garner played Elektra, and she’s finally ready to revisit this iconic character. She’ll return as antihero assassin Elektra in the highly-anticipated sequel Deadpool 3, reprising the role she first originated in the 2003 superhero flick Daredevil.

After making her debut as Elektra in Daredevil, Garner agreed to return for a standalone spin-off in 2005. This project left a sour taste in her mouth because it was both a critical and commercial bomb, and it was reported that the actress only agreed to do it because she was contractually obligated to.

Garner previously expressed regret over not being a part of MCU at the right time. She told The Hollywood Reporter that Marvel films felt much more elevated after Kevin Feige took over, in terms of writing, direction, and comedy, adding it’s a shame she didn’t have that same experience.

Luckily, she’ll finally get a chance to do justice to one of her most iconic characters in Deadpool 3. This film will see Ryan Reynolds return as Wade Wilson, and he’ll be in pretty good company since the supporting cast includes Morena Baccarin, Brianna Hildebrand, Emma Corrin, Matthew Macfadyen, and Hugh Jackman as Wolverine. Filming is currently underway, and the release date has been set for May 3, 2024.
