Third time’s a charm!

Guitarist John Frusciante is set to rejoin the Red Hot Chili Peppers for the third time after parting from the gang ten years ago.

The band confirmed the news Monday via Instagram, writing that it is “parting ways” with Josh Klinghoffer. Klinghoffer replaced Frusciante when he left back in 2009.

They continued: “We also announce with great excitement and full hearts, that John Frusciante is rejoining our group.”

Frusciante first joined the rock band in 1988, replacing Hillel Slovak. He then left in 1992 following a battle with drug abuse. He then rejoined them a second time six years later.

Frusciante was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2012. He has released twelve solo albums, seven EPs, and collaborated with various artists.

The Red Hot Chili Peppers currently have two shows planned for 2020.
