Keri Russell in Talks to Join “Star Wars: Episode IX”

Keri Russel might be going to a galaxy far far away.

Variety reports that the 42-year-old actress is in early talks to join the Star Wars universe.

The actress’ most recent major role was on the TV series The Americans. The series recently ended after six seasons.

While details of the role are scarce, if Russel joins the project is would serve as a Felicity reunion of a sort. Star Wars: Episode IX director and writer JJ Abrams and Russel collaborated in the past on the late ‘90s show Felicity which Abrams co-created and Russel rose to fame. The two also worked together on Mission: Impossible III.

Abrams wasn’t the first choice to helm Star Wars: Episode IX, he signed on after Colin Trevorrow exited the project last September. Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy officially announced Abrams’ return behind the camera, saying in a statement, “With The Force Awakens, J.J. delivered everything we could have possibly hoped for, and I am so excited that he is coming back to close out this trilogy.”

Star Wars: Episode IX is scheduled to hit theaters December 20, 2019.
