The Royal Family at “Trooping the Colour” 2017

Kate Middleton and Princess Charlotte were pretty in pink at 2017 Trooping the Colour parade on Saturday. The event, which includes a procession of more than 1,000 soldiers, is a British tradition from the 17th century and it marks the annual celebration of the Monarchs official birthday.

Queen Elizabeth II, who turned 91 in April, was riding in a carriage alongside Prince Philip and waved to the crowds, wearing a powder blue ensemble and matching hat.

Prince Charles and Prince William, both dressed in traditional Guard of Honor uniforms, joined the procession on horseback while Prince Harry and other members of the royal family followed by carriage.

Duchess Kate Middleton, who was seated next to Duchess Camilla of Cornwall, looked gorgeous in pink outfit by her go-to designer Alexander McQueen, along with a matching hat.

According to AOL, the day of ceremony comes at a difficult time for Britain, where the country encountered series of recent tragedies, including terrorist attacks and a deadly fire. Before the start of festivity, Prince Philip and the Queen issued a moment of silence for the victims of tragedy.

“Put to the test, the United Kingdom has been resolute in the face of adversity,” the Queen said. “United in our sadness, we are equally determined, without fear or favor, to support all those rebuilding lives so horribly affected by injury and loss.”
