Magician Shin Lim was crowned as the winner, after he managed to astonish everyone in the audience with one of his incredible card tricks.

This marks Lim’s second victory on the America’s Got Talent stage since she recently won Season 13 of this popular talent show. Singing ventriloquist Darci Lynne Farmer came in second, while Ukrainian sand artist Kseniya Simonova finished in the third spot.

Before becoming a close-up magician, Shin Lim pursued education in music and used to play violin and piano. He started practicing magic on his own, and used YouTube as his main source of inspiration, but eventually started developing original tricks.

Lim was diagnosed with carpal tunnel syndrome at the age of 20, and had to pick between music and magic. He opted for magic and it proved to be the right choice, since he found enormous success in the last few years.

America’s Got Talent winner doesn’t describe himself as a magician or a trickster, but a “sleight-of-hand artist” who’s trying to make card magic more artistic and visual. 2019 will see the competition series’ get some new faces with Gabrielle Union and Julianne Hough joining the judges table and Terry Crews set as the 14th season new host.

“One of the many secrets to the success and longevity of America’s Got Talent is its fearless drive to reinvent itself,” Meredith Ahr, president, alternative and reality group at NBC Entertainment, said Monday in a statement. “The next evolution of the format brings in fresh expert eyes to join Simon and Howie on the panel. Gabrielle and Julianne are two of the most aspirational women in the business, on top of being electric entertainers with talent across disciplines. I am excited to see how their knowledge, compassion and sheer joy enhance the experience for acts and viewers alike. As their partner in crime, host Terry Crews will continue to light up the stage with his quick wit and unending charm.”

Union and Hough are taking over judging duties from Heidi Klum and Mel B. They will join fellow judges Simon Cowell and Howie Mandel.

Fans rejoice as for the first time ever, you will have your favorite reality TV talent show warming you up during the winter. 

NBC announced that the summer franchise is getting a winter champions edition. America’s Got Talent: The Champions will feature contestant from past seasons and from the show’s global 184 franchises.

“‘America’s Got Talent’ dominates the summer by bringing together The World’s Best ‘Got Talent’ acts for all ages with unique talents to the forefront,” said Paul Telegdy, president of NBC’s alternative and reality group. “Bringing the best ‘Got Talent’ competitors together for this winter edition will have these favorites elevating their acts to awe and inspire audiences like never before.”

Simon Cowell, who helms the judges’ panel said, “I have always wanted to have a competition show for the very best of the best ‘Got Talent’ acts from around the world. The variety and the talents of the acts who enter ‘Got Talent’ globally are incredible and unbelievable. Since ‘America’s Got Talent’ was where it all started, I’m absolutely delighted to be launching this on NBC.”

The network has yet to confirm a launch date for America’s Got Talent: The Champions.

NBC’s hit was officially renewed for a 13th season announcing also that the onscreen team will remain intact. The judges’ panel that includes Simon Cowell, Howie Mandel, Heidi Klum and Mel B will return as is to judge season 13 of the reality competition show. Also back is Tyra Banks as the host.

Banks took to social media to share the exciting news with her fans writing, “Oh lawd honey, we gonna have some fun! #SquadGoals.” The show’s official account tweeted, “Summer isn’t summer without the #AGT fam.”

The network’s reality hit’s 12th season was the show’s most-watched in its 12-year history. Another record was broken in the last season as the season 12 winner, 12-year-old singing ventriloquist Darci Lynne received the most votes ever for an AGT finale.

Auditions for Season 13 already are underway with online auditions are open through March 9.
