The post 2024 BAFTA TV Awards: “The Crown” & “Black Mirror” Among Top Nominees appeared first on OMG Check It Out !.
]]>According to BAFTA CEO Jane Millichip, this year’s list of nominees includes over 100 television programs across 12 broadcasters and streamers, and they’re proud to showcase this incredible roster of talent.
“It is a real privilege to announce today’s nominations which recognize the most gripping, entertaining, challenging, funniest, most informative, highest quality, and most impactful TV programs of 2023, as voted for by BAFTA members,” said Millichip in a statement.
The Crown will enter this year’s BAFTA TV Awards with eight nominations, starting with the acting nods for Dominic West, Elizabeth Debecki, Lesley Manville, and Salim Daw. Despite being the ceremony’s most-nominated show, the royal drama lost the best drama series nomination to The Gold, Happy Valley, Slow Horses, and Top Boy.
Black Mirror owes its seven nominations to the final Season 6 episode “Demon 79”. It received nominations for best limited drama series, best leading actress (Anjana Vasan), plus five craft awards.
The British Academy Television Awards will air live on BBC One on May 12 from the Royal Festival Hall in London.

]]>The black comedy Bad Sisters was met with rave reviews when it premiered on Apple TV+ last year and it’s finally getting award recognition. It was named the best drama series after beating The Responder, Sherwood, and Somewhere Boy, while its star Anne-Marie Duff collected the trophy for the best supporting actress.
The BAFTA TV Awards also bid farewell to the beloved Channel 4 series Derry Girls by giving its last season two awards, starting with the best-scripted comedy. The show’s star Siobhán McSweeney made waves with her acceptance speech after collecting a BAFTA for best female comedy performance.
The masterminds behind I Am… Ruth also didn’t go home empty-handed. This anthology series won two awards: best single drama and best actress for Kate Winslet. Ben Whishaw was named the best actor for his role in the medical drama This Is Going to Hurt.
The 2023 British Academy Television Awards returned to Royal Festival Hall in London on May 14, with Rob Beckett and Romesh Ranganathan serving as hosts.

]]>The post Steve McQueen’s “Small Axe” Tops the 2021 BAFTA TV Awards Nominations appeared first on OMG Check It Out !.
]]>Small Axe is in the running for a total of 15 awards, including some of the leading categories. It will go head to head against Adult Material, I May Destroy You, and Normal People for the best mini-series award. The series’ stars John Boyega, Letitia Wright, Malachi Kirby, and Micheal Ward also received acting nominations in their respective categories.
Netflix’s royal drama The Crown was right behind with a total of 10 nominations. It’s in the running for the best drama award, and several of its stars—including Josh O’Connor, Helena Bonham Carter, and Tobias Menzies—have been nominated in different acting categories.
After being snubbed by several major award shows, Michaela Coel’s I May Destroy You finally received the credit it deserves with eight nominations. The list of major contenders also includes Normal People, I Hate Suzie, and Adult Material.
2021 British Academy Television Awards will take place on June 6th, with Richard Ayoade serving as host.

]]>The post 2024 BAFTA TV Awards: “The Crown” & “Black Mirror” Among Top Nominees appeared first on OMG Check It Out !.
