]]>The 2019 Rome Film Fest’s Lifetime Achievement Award will be handed to the veteran actor by his longtime collaborator and friend Wes Anderson.
Multiple outlets report that Murray and Anderson will take to the stage together for an “in conversation” session during the event which runs October 17-27.
The 68-years-old actor has appeared in every Anderson film since the director’s sophomore feature. Wes directed Murray in The Royal Tenenbaums, The Darjeeling Limited, Moonrise Kingdom and Grand Budapest Hotel, to name just a few.
The festival confirmed Monday that its Official Selection includes Ron Howard’s Pavarotti. This year’s event will also pay tribute to late Italian director Gillo Pontecorvo on the centennial of this birth with a restored version of his Oscar-nominated 1959 holocaust drama Kapò.
The complete lineup will be announced at a press conference October 4.

]]>The official synopsis still hasn’t seen the light of day, but The French Dispatch has been described as “a love letter to journalists set at an outpost of an American newspaper in 20th century Paris.” According to the sources close to Anderson, it will take place in the 1950s and center on three different storylines.
The cast of The French Dispatch was pretty impressive long before Chalamet and Swinton joined. It also stars Anderson’s regulars Frances McDormand and Bill Murray, plus newcomers to his world – Benicio Del Toro and Jeffrey Wright. It’s been reported Natalie Portman, Brad Pitt, and Léa Seydoux might be joining the cast, but those are just rumors at this stage.
This period piece will be Anderson’s first live-action film since The Grand Budapest Hotel, which won four Oscars and received a Best Picture nod.

]]>Bill Murray‘s crying while watching Groundhog Day in a Broadway theater is the sweetest thing we saw this week. The musical, based on the same-name 1993’s movie starring Murray, premiered in London last summer.
Sopan Deb from New York Times reported on Twitter: “By the time the cast was bowing on stage, Mr. Murray was in tears. He waited a minute to compose himself before joining the rest of the audience to cheer the cast.”
Murray explained what moved him to tears: “The idea that we just have to try again. We just have to try again. It’s such a beautiful, powerful idea.”
