]]>According to BAFTA CEO Jane Millichip, this year’s list of nominees includes over 100 television programs across 12 broadcasters and streamers, and they’re proud to showcase this incredible roster of talent.
“It is a real privilege to announce today’s nominations which recognize the most gripping, entertaining, challenging, funniest, most informative, highest quality, and most impactful TV programs of 2023, as voted for by BAFTA members,” said Millichip in a statement.
The Crown will enter this year’s BAFTA TV Awards with eight nominations, starting with the acting nods for Dominic West, Elizabeth Debecki, Lesley Manville, and Salim Daw. Despite being the ceremony’s most-nominated show, the royal drama lost the best drama series nomination to The Gold, Happy Valley, Slow Horses, and Top Boy.
Black Mirror owes its seven nominations to the final Season 6 episode “Demon 79”. It received nominations for best limited drama series, best leading actress (Anjana Vasan), plus five craft awards.
The British Academy Television Awards will air live on BBC One on May 12 from the Royal Festival Hall in London.

]]>The episodes of Black Mirror are mostly set in the dystopian future, and they explore the impact of technology on the world around us. Black Mirror originally aired on the British network Channel 4, before moving to Netflix after its second season and the acclaimed holiday special “White Christmas”.
Season 6 of this hit series was a long time coming, and it finally premiered on Netflix back in June. The opening episode “Joan Is Awful” created the most buzz with its AI-related themes and Charlie Brooker said it’s unfortunate to see how it predicted the future.
“That was written and wrapped before ChatGPT and stuff like that launched… I worry for a living — it’s generally what I do— and I’m very worried about AI and the use of ChatGPT and things like that. That’s a particular concern to me, so that’s why I’m here,” Brooker told Variety.
Season 6 of Black Mirror featured six episodes and starred Aaron Paul, Annie Murphy, Josh Hartnett, Kate Mara, Salma Hayek, Zazie Beetz, and Paapa Essiedu, among others. Netflix has yet to share any additional information about its follow-up.

]]>The next chapter will explore the effects of modern technology on our lives through a series of brand-new stories, with Aaron Paul, Annie Murphy, Ben Barnes, Himesh Patel, Josh Hartnett, Kate Mara, Michael Cera, Rob Delaney, Rory Culkin, Salma Hayek Pinault, and Zazie Beetz at their center.
According to the show’s creator Charlie Brooker, Black Mirror will keep reinventing itself in Season 6, and some of the storylines are so out of the box that they even took him by surprise.
“Consequently, this time, alongside some of the more familiar Black Mirror tropes we’ve also got a few new elements, including some I’ve previously sworn blind the show would never do, to stretch the parameters of what ‘a Black Mirror episode’ even is,” Brooker said in a statement.
Black Mirror fans have been waiting for new episodes since 2019, when a three-episode season featuring Anthony Mackie, Andrew Scott, and Miley Cyrus premiered on Netflix. Season 6 is arriving in June, but the streamer is yet to confirm its official release date.

The first episode, “Smithereens,” will center on a cab driver with an agenda, whose day rapidly spirals out of control after he becomes the center of unwanted attention. It stars Andrew Scott and Topher Grace, with James Hawes serving as a director.
The second episode, “Rachel, Jack and Ashley Too” sees Miley Cyrus taking the lead, as international pop sensation Ashley O. She borrows her name and voice to a series of sinister robo-dolls, and a lonely teenager who yearns for connection with her favorite superstar ends up buying one of them.
The third episode, “Striking Vipers” follows two estranged college friends (Anthony Mackie and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II) who find their way to each other, but their reunion ends up triggering a series of events that could alter their lives forever.
All three episodes will start streaming on Netflix starting with June 5th.

Brooker went on the record saying his team won’t solely focus on dystopian and negative stories in season 5, because they’re trying to keep the show interesting for everyone.
They recently embarked on the most exciting journey they ever went on, with interactive standalone movie Bandersnatch that has the potential to change the TV landscape forever.
No matter which path you chose while watching this ground-breaking project, there’s no happy ending in sight, but some of the previous episodes offered us with one. San Junipero and Hang the DJ come to mind, and so does the Emmy-winning Star Trek spoof a USS Callister.

Cyrus’ sister Brandi was the one who let the cat out of the bag during her podcast Your Favorite Thing. She said her sibling is currently visiting Cape Town to film an episode of Black Mirror and all hell broke loose.
The news immediately went viral and the whole world waited for one thing – Miley’s confirmation. She gave us one (sort of) during her appearance on the Howard Stern’s show. Cyrus confirmed the news by simply shaking her head ‘yes’ after the host asked her about it because she wasn’t allowed to say anything – including the name of the show!
All this mystery makes us even more excited to watch her episode, especially because it’s been a while since we’ve seen Miley Cyrus put on her acting shoes. She hasn’t had a starring role since 2016 when she appeared in Woody Allen’s Crisis in Six Scenes.

]]>The episodes of Black Mirror are mostly set in the dystopian future, and they explore the impact of technology on the world around us. Black Mirror originally aired on the British network Channel 4, before moving to Netflix after its second season and the acclaimed holiday special “White Christmas”.
Season 6 of this hit series was a long time coming, and it finally premiered on Netflix back in June. The opening episode “Joan Is Awful” created the most buzz with its AI-related themes and Charlie Brooker said it’s unfortunate to see how it predicted the future.
“That was written and wrapped before ChatGPT and stuff like that launched… I worry for a living — it’s generally what I do— and I’m very worried about AI and the use of ChatGPT and things like that. That’s a particular concern to me, so that’s why I’m here,” Brooker told Variety.
Season 6 of Black Mirror featured six episodes and starred Aaron Paul, Annie Murphy, Josh Hartnett, Kate Mara, Salma Hayek, Zazie Beetz, and Paapa Essiedu, among others. Netflix has yet to share any additional information about its follow-up.

]]>The next chapter will explore the effects of modern technology on our lives through a series of brand-new stories, with Aaron Paul, Annie Murphy, Ben Barnes, Himesh Patel, Josh Hartnett, Kate Mara, Michael Cera, Rob Delaney, Rory Culkin, Salma Hayek Pinault, and Zazie Beetz at their center.
According to the show’s creator Charlie Brooker, Black Mirror will keep reinventing itself in Season 6, and some of the storylines are so out of the box that they even took him by surprise.
“Consequently, this time, alongside some of the more familiar Black Mirror tropes we’ve also got a few new elements, including some I’ve previously sworn blind the show would never do, to stretch the parameters of what ‘a Black Mirror episode’ even is,” Brooker said in a statement.
Black Mirror fans have been waiting for new episodes since 2019, when a three-episode season featuring Anthony Mackie, Andrew Scott, and Miley Cyrus premiered on Netflix. Season 6 is arriving in June, but the streamer is yet to confirm its official release date.

]]>Netflix just dropped three trailers, giving us a closer look at the new episodes of the visionary show.
The first episode, “Smithereens,” will center on a cab driver with an agenda, whose day rapidly spirals out of control after he becomes the center of unwanted attention. It stars Andrew Scott and Topher Grace, with James Hawes serving as a director.
The second episode, “Rachel, Jack and Ashley Too” sees Miley Cyrus taking the lead, as international pop sensation Ashley O. She borrows her name and voice to a series of sinister robo-dolls, and a lonely teenager who yearns for connection with her favorite superstar ends up buying one of them.
The third episode, “Striking Vipers” follows two estranged college friends (Anthony Mackie and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II) who find their way to each other, but their reunion ends up triggering a series of events that could alter their lives forever.
All three episodes will start streaming on Netflix starting with June 5th.

]]>The hit anthology show often offers a pretty bleak look on the world since it explores what can happen when humanity’s greatest innovations and darkest instincts collide.
After four pretty gloomy seasons, Brooker finally came to the conclusion that technology isn’t THAT bad and decided to surprise us with more optimistic episodes this time around.
Brooker went on the record saying his team won’t solely focus on dystopian and negative stories in season 5, because they’re trying to keep the show interesting for everyone.
They recently embarked on the most exciting journey they ever went on, with interactive standalone movie Bandersnatch that has the potential to change the TV landscape forever.
No matter which path you chose while watching this ground-breaking project, there’s no happy ending in sight, but some of the previous episodes offered us with one. San Junipero and Hang the DJ come to mind, and so does the Emmy-winning Star Trek spoof a USS Callister.

Cyrus’ sister Brandi was the one who let the cat out of the bag during her podcast Your Favorite Thing. She said her sibling is currently visiting Cape Town to film an episode of Black Mirror and all hell broke loose.
The news immediately went viral and the whole world waited for one thing – Miley’s confirmation. She gave us one (sort of) during her appearance on the Howard Stern’s show. Cyrus confirmed the news by simply shaking her head ‘yes’ after the host asked her about it because she wasn’t allowed to say anything – including the name of the show!
All this mystery makes us even more excited to watch her episode, especially because it’s been a while since we’ve seen Miley Cyrus put on her acting shoes. She hasn’t had a starring role since 2016 when she appeared in Woody Allen’s Crisis in Six Scenes.
