2021 is ending in just a few days and it gave TV fans a lot of things to remember it by. Many of our favorite TV dramas and comedies ended their run this year, and here are five that we’ll remember fondly even after they ended their run.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine

Brooklyn Nine-Nine has been making us laugh for almost a decade, but Jake Peralta and the rest of the gang finally hang up their badges this year after eight hilarious seasons.

Money Heist

Netflix kept us on the edge of our seats with this Spanish crime drama about a group of robbers trying to pull off a heist of a lifetime, and their last hurrah was a joy to watch.

Shameless

Shameless has been around for an entire decade, but all good things must come to an end. Its season finale premiered this spring and allowed us to say goodbye to the Gallagher family.

Good Girls

Beth, Ruby, and Annie have been a long way since trying to rob their local supermarket. The final season of Good Girls showed them trying to get out of the twisted web they’ve created for one last time.

Insecure

Issa Rae has been on quite a journey since the beginning of Insecure, and the final season shows her trying to take control of her personal and professional life and figure out what she really wants.

Jake Peralta, Captain Holt, and the rest of the Brooklyn Nine-Nine squad took us on many amazing adventures together, and the last one is underway. This beloved workplace sitcom will end its run after eight glorious seasons.

Since its premiere in 2013, Brooklyn Nine-Nine followed the trials and tribulations of the detectives working at a fictional NYPD precinct in Brooklyn. Despite its unrealistic portrayal of low enforcement, this show became a huge hit with viewers and critics alike and it won a Golden Globe for the best comedy series.

Fans of the show may be saddened by the news, but Dan Goor admitted this was exactly the number of episodes he had in mind when he created Brooklyn Nine-Nine with Mike Schur. In a statement, he thanked their partners at NBC and Universal Television for making it happen.

“When Mike Schur and I first pitched the pilot episode to Andy [Samberg], he said, ‘I’m in, but I think the only way to tell this story is over exactly 153 episodes,’ which was crazy because that was exactly the number Mike and I had envisioned,” explained Goor.

The final season of Brooklyn Nine-Nine still doesn’t have an official release date, but it’s expected to premiere later this year.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine found its new home on NBC after Fox waved it goodbye, and it will be staying there for at least another year. The beloved police sitcom has just been renewed for Season 7.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine follows a team of detectives working at the fictional precinct of the New York City Police Department. It was created by Greg Daniels and Michael Schur, who previously worked together on Parks and Recreation.

Fans of Brooklyn Nine-Nine were devastated after Fox canceled this show, but NBC quickly picked it up. Lisa Katz and Tracey Pakosta, co-presidents of scripted programming at NBC Entertainment, are sure they couldn’t have made a better choice.

“It’s been one of our great joys as a network to give Brooklyn Nine-Nine a second life. Cheers to Dan Goor, Mike Schur, Luke Del Tredici and David Miner, and our amazing cast and crew who each week turn New York’s finest into New York’s funniest,” said Katz and Pakosta in a joint statement.

NBC decided to really go all in on their new acquisition from Fox, Brooklyn Nine-Nine. The network announced that it added five more episodes to their original 13 episodes order for comedy’s season six, bringing the total episode count to 18.

This represents excellent news for the fans of Brooklyn Nine-Nine, but we doubt it will be enough considering the fact that the previous season had between 22 and 23 episodes each. Who knows, maybe NBC changes their mind once again and order five more. Wouldn’t that be great?

Brooklyn Nine-Nine will return to television with new episodes during the mid-season in the 2018–19 television season.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine premiered at Fox in 2013 and went on to receive critical acclaim for its humor and cast. The show, however, couldn’t keep the audience engaged since the ratings dropping significantly after season two and never recovered. The fifth season dropped to 1.9 million average viewers, which prompted Fox to cancel the series in May.

Shortly after Brooklyn Nine-Nine was canceled, several other networks and streaming platforms expressed interest in reviving the show. It ended up landing on NBC, the network that initially passed on this comedy back in 2013. It is expected that the entire cast returns for season six, including Adam Samberg, Andre Braugher, Terry Crews, Melissa Fumero, Joe Lo Truglio, Stephanie Beatriz, Chelsea Peretti, Dirk Blocker, and Joel McKinnon Miller.

Looks like Brooklyn Nine-Nine is here to stay after all.

Following the news of its cancellation by Fox, NBC announced that it has picked up the series for a sixth season. Season six will consist of 13 episodes.

The news was announced by the network on Friday. Producer Universal Television initially went to Hulu in hopes of keeping the comedy on-screen, by the streaming service eventually passed.

“Ever since we sold this show to Fox I’ve regretted letting it get away, and it’s high time it came back to its rightful home,” said Robert Greenblatt, chairman of NBC Entertainment. “Mike Schur, Dan Goor, and Andy Samberg grew up on NBC and we’re all thrilled that one of the smartest, funniest, and best cast comedies in a long time will take its place in our comedy line-up. I speak for everyone at NBC, here’s to the Nine-Nine!”

Schur, co-creator and executive producer took to social media to share his excitement.

“Brooklyn Nine-Nine. Season 6. NBC,” he shared. “This happened because the fans of the show went berzerk. We can’t thank you — or @NBC — enough. #Brooklyn99.”

Creator Dan Goor also joined the festivities tweeting, ”Hey everyone, just wanted to say no big deal but…. NBC JUST PICKED #BROOKLYN99 UP FOR SEASON 6!!! Thanks in no small part to you, the best fans in the history of the world! Nine-nine!!!!!!!!!”
