We finally get to sneak a peek at the 13 Reasons Why star in her forthcoming project.

Netflix has dropped the first look image of Katherine Langford’s Nimue in the streaming giant’s re-imagining Cursed.

The image that was shared via Netflix’s official Twitter features  Langford holding a sword and preparing for battle. The post also revealed that the show has been scheduled to debut sometime in 2020.

Cursed is based on Tom Wheeler’s illustrated young adult novel of the same name. The coming-of-age series halls from co-creators Wheeler and Frank Miller.

Per the official logline: “Cursed is a re-imagining of the Arthurian legend, told through the eyes of Nimue, a teenage heroine with a mysterious gift who is destined to become the powerful (and tragic) Lady of the Lake. After her mother’s death, she finds an unexpected partner in Arthur, a young mercenary, in a quest to find Merlin and deliver an ancient sword. Over the course of her journey, Nimue will become a symbol of courage and rebellion against the terrifying Red Paladins, and their complicit King Uther.”

Katherine Langford is done playing Hannah Baker, but that doesn’t mean her professional relationship with Netflix is over. The rising star just landed the lead role in their upcoming series Cursed, based on the eponymous book by Frank Miller and Tom Wheeler.

Langford rose to prominence thanks to the role in teen drama 13 Reasons Why, one of Netflix’s most talked-about shows to date. She decided to leave the series after two seasons because she felt that was enough to fully tell Hannah’s story. Katherine Langford is now ready for new adventures, and Cursed certainly seems like one.

The official Netflix synopsis describes Cursed as a re-imagination of the Arthurian legend, told through the eyes of Nimue, a teenage heroine with a mysterious gift who is destined to become the powerful and tragic Lady of the Lake.

Netflix also called it “a coming-of-age story whose themes are familiar to our own time: the obliteration of the natural world, religious terror, senseless war, and finding the courage to lead in the face of the impossible.”

Miller and Wheeler, who wrote the book, also created this series and they’ll serve as executive producers. Zetna Fuentes will executive produce, as well, and direct the first two episodes of the 10-episode series. Her credits include dozens of hit shows, such as How to Get Away with Murder, Jane the Virgin and Jessica Jones.
