According to Variety, the reboot from creators Chris Keyser and Amy Lippman averaged only 250,000 Live+Same Day viewers, making it one of the network’s least-watched shows this season.
The series followed the five Acosta children as they navigate daily life struggles to survive as a family unit after their parents suddenly are deported back to Mexico.
“Party of Five embodies the heart and soul of what it means to be a family in the most trying of times. We’re so lucky that Freeform gets to be the home for this reimagined story, as we continue to represent the resilience of young adults and the importance of fighting for your voice in times of doubt,” said network president Tom Ascheim when the series was announced.
The series starred Brandon Larracuente, Emily Tosta, Niko Guardado and Elle Paris Legaspi.

]]>Multiple outlets report that a new iteration of Party of Five is coming to Freedom.
Freedom has officially announced that it has ordered 10 episodes of the Party of Five
The original ran from 1994 to 2000 and followed the Salinger siblings as they navigated life after their parents were killed in an accident. The revival, however, is reimagined as a modern-day immigrant drama. It will follow the Acosta siblings as they navigate life after their parents are deported to Mexico.

]]>According to The Hollywood Reporter, Freeform has handed out a 10-episode order to a new series from creator, writer, and comedian Josh Thomas.
31-year-old Thomas will also star in the series as Nicholas, a neurotic 25-year-old still living at home with his single dad and two teenage half-sisters, one of which has autism. He is not particularly helpful in raising his siblings, but when their dad becomes terminally ill, the girls have to cope with not only a devastating loss but also the realization that Nicholas is the one who will have to hold it all together.
Thomas will also serve as showrunner on the comedy and will exec produces alongside David Martin, Jon Thoday and Richard Allen-Turner for Avalon Television.
“The absolute bestest thing about having a brand new TV show is getting to create new characters,” said Thomas. “I love the characters in this show, and I love how our cast depicts them—they are funny and kind and fascinating. I feel very grateful to Freeform for giving me the opportunity to introduce them to you.”

Alone Together starred Esther Povitsky and Benji Aflalo. The duo portrayed platonic best friends who want nothing more than to be accepted by the vain and status-obsessed culture. Despite their oft-dysfunctional relationship, when push comes to shove, they’ve got each other’s back, especially due to the fact that they have nobody else to hang out with.
The 10-episode sophomore season was available to stream on Hulu along with running back-to-back new episodes over five Wednesdays on Freeform. According to Variety, the series averaged a 0.05 rating in adults 18-49 in its second season and 127,000 viewers per episode, down a massive 50% in both measures from the first season.
Alone Together was co-created by Povitsky and Aflalo alongside Eben Russell. The three also served as writers and executive producers.

]]>Midler is getting wicked again confirming that she has joined Freedom’s Hocus Pocus reunion special.
Almost a month after the network announced that they’re reuniting all three sisters to honor the iconic film’s 25th anniversary, Midler has confirmed that she’s in on the fun.
A video posted on the network’s YouTube page features Midler saying in her Winifred Sanderson voice “Wait, wait a minute. What’s a Sanderson sister celebration without Winifred?” The 72-year-old actress then shared the video on Twitter writing, WHAT A HOOT!! JOIN US AS “WE FLY!”
Midler will join Kathy Najimy and Sarah for the movie’s Anniversary Reunion Bash. The special is hosted by Vanessa Hudgens and Jordan Fisher and will feature musical performances and exclusive interviews.
The special will air October 20 as part of Freedom’s 31 of Nights of Halloween lineup.

]]>The cancelation comes after the series aired on the cable network for two seasons. TVLine reports that the official decision was made Friday. Freedom’s official statement reads:
“We are proud to have had the opportunity to air Famous In Love. After many discussions, we have made the difficult decision not to renew the show for a third season. We want to thank our colleagues at Warner Horizon and our incredible producers, writers, cast and crew, especially Marlene King, for their creativity, hard work, and dedication.”
The series was based on a novel by Rebecca Serle and followed college student Paige (Thorne) as she gets her big break after auditioning for the starring role in a Hollywood feature.
The series also starred Charlie DePew, Georgie Flores, Carter Jenkins, Niki Koss, Keith Powers, Pepi Sonuga, and Perrey Reeves.
