Deadline was first to report that Billy Eichner has been cast in the forthcoming third installment of Ryan Murphy’s American Crime Story. 

ACS: Impeachment will tell the story of the impeachment of President Bill Clinton following the Monica Lewinsky scandal. It is reported that the American Horror Story alum will portray Matt Drudge of the Drudge Report which first broke the news of the scandal. 

He joins Beanie Feldstein who will star as Monica Lewinsky, Clive Owen as Bill Clinton, Sarah Paulson as Linda Tripp, and Annaleigh Ashford as Paula Jones.

Eichner confirmed the news on social media writing, “Can finally share this with the world. Truly an honor to join.”

It’s official: the forthcoming tenth installment of the FX horror anthology will see the return of franchise veteran Sarah Paulson as a “central character.”

The actress confirmed the news to reporters during the Television Critics Association press tour last week. 

“I can confirm that I will be in next season,” Paulson said. “I have no idea what it will be… But I’m not coming back as a guest part, I will be a central character.”

News of Paulson’s return follows news that AHS has been renewed for three additional seasons, continuing through at least season 13. But will Paulson be featured in all those seasons too?

“God willing, I have no idea,” she said. “But I do know that I did ask Ryan, if the question was asked to me, could I say that I was coming back? And he said, ‘Yes, you can say.’ So yes, I will be back on American Horror Story.”

Multiple outlets confirm that a limited series of Stephen King’s 1974 novel is headed for the small screen. 

The forthcoming limited TV series at FX is the latest adaptation of the iconic horror novel, which follows high school misfit Carrie White, who discovers she has telekinetic powers. The most recent adaptation was the 2013 feature film starring Chloe Grace Moretz as the titular character. The most famous adaptation of the story is Brian De Palma’s 1976 movie starring Sissy Spacek. 

King’s Carrie joins other of the author’s titles that are currently being adapted — The Half Dark at MGM and Epix’s reimagining of Jerusalem’s Lot.

Per Entertainment Weekly, the five-part documentary series titled Outlaw: The Saga of Afeni and Tupac Shakur and directed by Allen Hughes will tell the story of the artist and his activist mother by those who knew them best. 

“There’s a ton of music and a ton of material, but there’s also an unbelievably fascinating biography, which is really a biography about Tupac’s mother and father and how he grew up in various places with them,” FX CEO John Landgraf told reporters at TCA. “[Shakur] is a very fascinating man and a very complicated artist. I think the kinds of stories that appeal to us are the ones that have characters at the center of them but they’re also about humanity in a really broad way. They’re about big, profound ideas about art and society.”

FX announced the project Tuesday at the Television Critics Association’s summer press tour in Beverly Hills, California, along with six other documentaries in the works.

The network confirmed Wednesday that the comedy series will wrap up on August 22, with the season finale now serving as the series finale.

The series followed Zach Galifianakis’ Chip Baskets on his journey to become a professional clown. His costar Louie Anderson played Chip’s doting mother, Christine. It also stars Martha Kelly and Alex Morris.

“Over four seasons, Baskets has taken its place among the great FX comedies as an endearing and hilarious look at the dreams and ambition of Chip Baskets and his extended, loving family,” said Eric Schrier, president of FX Entertainment. “This show has been a joy for everyone at FX and we are grateful to Jonathan Krisel, Zach Galifianakis, Louie Anderson, Martha Kelly and the rest of the cast and crew for giving us the gem that is Baskets.”

Baskets is executive produced by Jonathan Krisel, Galifianakis, Marc Gurvitz, and Andrea Pett-Joseph.

News of the renewal comes just one week after the series’ second season debuted.

According to Variety, it features the largest cast of transgender actors in series regular roles ever.

Ryan Murphy is throwing it back to 1984 and paying homage to all those ’80s horror movies including A Nightmare on Elm Street, Children of the Corn and Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter.

The creator of the acclaimed horror franchise revealed the name of the next installment of AHS on Wednesday. Muphy’s Instagram post featured a short video of a teenage girl fleeing a big man with an even bigger knife chasing her in true ‘80s slasher films fashion. 

Confirmed to return for Season 9 is Emma Roberts. She’ll star opposite Olympian Gus Kenworthy, as his on-screen on the run from slasher guy couple. Evan Peters recently announced that he won’t be back for season 9. Sarah Paulson has yet to give details about her involvement, but we think it’s safe to assume she’s on board.

Season 8 has been titled as AHS: Apocalypse and has been set to premiere on FX on Wednesday, September 12. 

Season 8 will be a crossover of fans’ favorite seasons, Coven and Murder House. The highly anticipated crossover of seasons one and three has raised tons of speculation about which character from which season will the cast be playing. 

Co-creator Ryan Murphy took to social media to reveal key casting for season eight, tweeting that Cody Fern (The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story) will play Michael Langdon aka the son of Tate Langdon (Evan Peters) and Vivien Harmon (Connie Britton). Adopted by Constance Langdon (Jessica Lange) Billie is no ordinary grandchild, he is, according to Billie Dean Howard (Sarah Paulson), the Anti-Christ.

Fern will join Murphy the previously cast of Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, and Kathy Bates.

The news of the renewal was announced by the network Friday. 

The comic book drama still has two more episodes in its sophomore year. Originally planned as a ten-episode season, an additional episode was recently added, making it a total of eleven.

Helmed by Noah Hawley, and based on the Marvel Comics by Chris Claremont and Bill Sienkiewicz, the series follows David Haller, played by Dan Stevens, who believed himself to be schizophrenic only to discover that he may actually be the most powerful mutant the world has ever seen.

The series also stars Rachel Keller, Jean Smart, Jeremie Harris, Amber Midthunder, Bill Irwin, Aubrey Plaza, Jemaine Clement, Hamish Linklater, and Navid Negahban.

Legion Season 3 is currently slated to air in 2019.

Garland, whose directorial debut Ex Machina was nominated in 2016 for an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay, has now teased that he is hoping to make an eight-episode FX series his next project.

Back in July, Variety reported that Garland has signed an overall television production deal with FX Productions. This means that he will develop, write and produce television projects exclusively for FX Productions.

“We are thrilled that he is bringing his talents as a writer and director to television through FX Productions,” Eric Schrier of FX Networks and FX Productions said in a statement in July.

Now Garland reveals what this first joint endeavor might look like.

“The next project, provided it happens — hopefully we’re gonna shoot it later this year — [is] an eight-part television series for FX,” he told Fandango in an interview. “It’s a sort of science-fiction, but it’s a much more technology-based sci-fi whereas Annihilation is a more hallucinogenic form of sci-fi and more fantastical form of sci-fi.” The project will have “more in common with projects I’ve worked on like Ex Machina or Never Let Me Go, which are taking something about our world now — not our world in the future, but our world as it is right now — and then drawing sort of inferences and conclusions from it,” he added.

With no other information on the upcoming series as of yet, Garland did say “it is already written,” but “for practical reasons” he might not direct all 8 episodes.
