]]> AMC and Channel 4 gave us one of the most intriguing and underrated sci-fi shows with Humans, but all good things must come to an end. After three seasons on the air, they made a difficult decision to cancel the critically acclaimed drama.

This show takes place in a dystopian future, where many families own highly-developed robotic servants known as “’Synths”, who are transforming their daily lives. Gemma Chan got her big break thanks to this show and went on to become an international star after being cast in Crazy Rich Asians.

Writer and executive producer Sam Vincent shared the news in a moving statement that he posted on Twitter. He thanked everyone who was involved in the making of this brilliant show and said they wouldn’t get these three seasons if it wasn’t for their talent and dedication.

“Sadly, there won’t be a fourth season of Humans. In this age of unprecedented choice and competition, we can have no complaints. Channel 4 and AMC were the perfect partners. They supported the show brilliantly and above all – let us make three seasons,” wrote Vincent.

]]> Short film Mr. Malcolm’s List starring Gemma Chan and Freida Pinto was so amazing that we all wished it was a feature – and our wish has finally been granted.

This period piece, directed by Emma Holly Jones, is being expanded to a feature written by Suzanne Allain, who also wrote the novel this film is based on. Mr. Malcolm’s List was one of the highest-rated scripts on The Black List, before this creative team decided to transform it into something more.

The unconventional rom-com, set in the early 1800s, tells the story of a young woman courting a mysterious wealthy suitor, unaware of his unattainable list of conditions for a future wife.

The original short was produced by Refinery29, Untitled Entertainment, and Rebelle Media and they’ll return to bring Mr. Malcolm’s List to the big screen.

Laura Lewis of Rebelle Media can’t wait to see what this amazing team comes up with next. “Emma’s bold vision for this project immediately piqued our interest, because it shook up the traditional narrative. We are proud to re-team with the fantastic group behind our short film to bring this romantic, funny, and innovative feature film to life,” she explained.
