]]>Based on Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett’s iconic novel Good Omens, this series centers on angel Aziraphale and demon Crowley, who’ve been living in perfect harmony on Earth for years, until the upcoming Armageddon threatened their peaceful lives and forced them to join forces in an attempt to save the day.
Neil Gaiman, who created this series for Amazon, confirmed its ending and dropped hints about the upcoming final season.
“I’m so happy finally to be able to finish the story Terry and I plotted in 1989 and in 2006. Terry was determined that if we made Good Omens for television, we could take the story all the way to the end… Now, in Season 3, we will deal once more with the end of the world,” said Gaiman in a statement.
Vernon Sanders, Amazon MGM Studios’ head of television, promised that the third season will be packed with the same dynamic energy we came to enjoy and praised this show for “[checking] every box for a clever, witty, and funny comedy.”

“It’s a giant animated Satan. He turns up and we needed a performance that works. So we found a young British help that needed a lot of direction from Douglas… Benedict Cumberbatch,” announced Gaiman.
Good Omens follows the journey of demon Crowley and angel Aziraphale, who join their forces to prevent the apocalypse because they’ve gotten used to their cozy life on Earth. The show will launch on Amazon Prime on May 31, before airing on BBC Two.
It was previously announced that two-time Oscar winner Frances McDormand will appear on this series as the voice of God. Main cast of Good Omens includes David Tennant, Michael Sheen and Jon Hamm.

]]>Good Omens tells the tale of an angel, Crowley, and a demon, Aziraphale, who’ve been living on Earth since the dawn of creation. Despite the fact they represent opposite sides, the two men have something in common – they’re very fond of their cozy, comfortable life on Earth. As the Apocalypse approaches, the two unlikely friends decide to team up and stop the end of the world so they wouldn’t have to leave their beloved planet.
David Tennant and Michael Sheen are playing the lead roles in the upcoming Amazon series, directed by Douglas Mackinnon. Co-author of Good Omens Neil Gaiman agreed to write the script, as a way of honoring late Terry Pratchett, who spent years dreaming of seeing a screen adaptation of their hit novel.
“Terry asked me if I would write it. And he’d never asked me for anything. We’d been friends for about 35 years and he said, ‘You have to do this because I don’t have very long to live and I want to see it.’ I sat down to write the script for episode one shortly after his death. I know it was the last request, so I’ve seen it through,” explained Gaiman during New York Comic Con.

]]>Gaiman previously signed a first-look deal with distribution giant Fremantle but decided to jump ship after its expiration date. He found a new home at Amazon, and head of this studio Jennifer Salke was more than happy to welcome him to their realm.
“Neil Gaiman is a phenomenally talented writer, who creates worlds that are compelling, multi-dimensional and narratively unique. His fans are ardent, vocal and passionate, and we are fortunate to bring his gifted vision to the Prime Video audience,” said Salke.
Neil Gaiman already worked closely with executives at Amazon and was impressed by how well they handled the adaptation of Good Omens, hit novel he wrote with the late Terry Pratchett. This collaboration apparently gave him a nudge in the right direction even before he agreed to sign the deal.
“They are smart, gloriously enthusiastic people, who weren’t afraid of Good Omens being different but who were as determined as I was to make something as unique and exciting as it is,” explained the bestselling author behind Stardust, American Gods, and Coraline.

]]>The end-is-nigh series is based on the novel by Neil Gaiman and the late Terry Pratchett. Amazon described it as a tale about “fussy Angel and loose-living Demon who’ve become overly fond of life on Earth.” The two unlikely allies are forced to team up and stop Armageddon, but there’s a catch. They lost track of 11-year-old Antichrist and finding him is the only way to save the world.
Michal Sheen and David Tennent were entrusted with the responsibility of bringing the two main characters to life. McDormand is the latest addition to the impressive cast that also includes John Hamm, Michael McKean, and Miranda Richardson. Gaiman joked her casting was basically the result of blackmail. The actress, who never met the famous novelist before, emailed him to ask if she might use his house in Scotland. Gaiman agreed but used this as an opportunity to ask her if she’d be interested in joining the show.
“We knew God had to be a woman. We were talking about great American actresses because we knew [we wanted it] to be an American voice,” explained the author.
Everyone who already worships Fargo star will be delighted to hear she said “Yes.” They’ll have to wait until 2019 to hear her voicing God since the release date of Good Omens hasn’t been set yet.
