Grey’s Anatomy recently got renewed for season 18, but Greg Germann won’t stick around enough to take part in it. Germann, who plays brilliant neurosurgeon Dr. Tom Koracick on the hit ABC’s medical drama, ended his stint as series regular.

Showrunner Krista Vernoff confirmed the news in a statement published on Thursday, hailing Germann as “a comic genius.” “We are so lucky that he brought his talents to our show these last few years,” added Vernoff while leaving open the possibility of Germann returning as Koracick in a guest capacity.

Greg Germann, who is probably best known for his work on hit legal series Ally McBeal, joined Grey’s Anatomy as a recurring cast member in season 14. He moved up towards the top of the bill in season 16, and his character was featured in several intriguing storylines since then.

The show’s most recent episode, “Tradition,” was also Germann’s last in a series regular capacity.

“To have worked with all the incredibly talented people involved with Grey’s over the past few years has been such a privilege,” he said in a statement.

Besides Germann, “Tradition” also saw the exit of Jesse Williams, who has been on the show since season six. The duo will join Giacomo Gianniotti, whose character Andrew DeLuca was killed off earlier in season 17.

“There’s no good time to say goodbye to a show and character that’s defined so much of my life for the past 15 years,” Chambers told Deadline. “For some time now, however, I have hoped to diversify my acting roles and career choices. And, as I turn 50 and am blessed with my remarkable, supportive wife and five wonderful children, now is that time.”

He continued: “As I move on from Grey’s Anatomy, I want to thank the ABC family, Shonda Rimes, original cast members Ellen Pompeo, Chandra Wilson and James Pickens, and the rest of the amazing cast and crew, both past and present, and, of course, the fans for an extraordinary ride.”

Following Chamber’s exit, Pompeo is the only remaining original Grey’s intern. In response to Vanity Fair’s tweet, “Grey’s Anatomy is about to feel one of its biggest losses yet,” Pompeo wrote, “Truer words have never been spoken,” along with a broken heart emoji.

Grey’s Anatomy fans are about the get to know Derek’s fourth sister.

Multiple outlets confirm that Amy Acker, star of The Gifted, Angel, and Person of Interest has been cast to play Kathleen, Derek Shepherd’s (Patrick Dempsey) mysterious sister.

After fifteen seasons fans will finally get to see Kathleen Shepherd in an episode that focuses almost exclusively on Amelia Shepherd, played by Caterina Scorsone. Kathleen, who is a doctor like the rest of her siblings, specializes in psychiatry.

While her appearance has been limited to one episode, it is a big deal in the history of Grey’s as only three out of the four sisters appeared on the ABC medical drama. We’ve briefly met Liz (Neve Campbell) and Nancy (Embeth Davitz) and Amelia (Scorsone), who is a series regular.

Grey’s Anatomy airs Thursdays on ABC.

Grey’s Anatomy is going to make history this season.

ABC’s hit medical drama just got an additional episodes’ boost. The additional episodes were announced by the network Monday, January 7.

According to multiple reports, season 15 of Grey’s Anatomy has received an additional three episodes order, bringing the season’s total episode count to 25.

Season 15 marks the second-longest season in the series’ history, second to Season 2 run of 27. This season of Grey’s will also mark another milestone for the show — the second half of the season, Grey’s will surpass ER as the longest-running medical drama ever.

The midseason finale saw Grey Sloan Memorial dealing with a windstorm that left Meredith and Dr. DeLuca (Giacomo Gianniotti) stranded in an elevator.

Back in September, Gianniotti told Entertainment Tonight: “Last season, in the finale, they shared this drunken kiss. We didn’t know what it meant but there was something there. Meredith kind of pushed it off and it’s something we’ve been revisiting in this season. Definitely in the premiere you’re going to see it right out of the gate, which is basically what you saw in the trailer, but it’s going to be a little longer, a little bit more detailed. I think we’re going to see something blossoming between them: A friendship? A friendship that could be more? At the moment, we don’t know. … We are definitely building some romance, but to what degree, I don’t know.”

Grey’s Anatomy returns January 17.

It’s been a few weeks since E! announced all the potential nominees for People’s Choice Awards, and the list of finalist is finally here. A couple of surprise nominees managed to make the cut thanks to winning the public’s write-in vote.

When it comes to the movie categories, Infinity War led the way with a total of 6 nominations. It was nominated for both best movie and action movie of the year, while the stars – Chris Hemsworth, Robert Downey Jr., and Scarlett Johansson – picked up nominations in acting categories. Something similar happened in the musical categories, where South Korean boy band BTS managed to beat the likes of Cardi B and Camila Cabello to receive a total of four nominations.

After starring in ABC’s hit medical drama Grey’s Anatomy for almost a decade, Sandra Oh opened up to The Hollywood Reporter about her first series regular since leaving Grey’s.

During an Emmy Roundtable discussion for THR Oh said that saying yes to Killing Eve was like “falling in love.”

“I think it takes a while to eventually get to a point in your career where you can actually make a choice and after a decade of my life on a show, I had enough economic power to be able to say no.”

Oh chose to actively wait for four years for her next major project.

“Those four years were like active waiting. I was not working really in here [motions to gut] to be able to figure out what the right thing is and what it is to say no and what it is to say yes.”

Oh plays Killing Eve’s hero and protagonist, an MI5 officer named Eve Polastri. She is one half of the female-led crime thriller, the other is a notorious assassin named Villanelle (Jodie Comer). The series premiered in April on BBC America.

“It was the character and Phoebe’s voice [Killing Eve’s showrunner and executive producer, Phoebe Waller-Bridge] that I thought, ‘This is the right thing for me. This feels right to say yes.’”

“I think we’ve all had to along the way make our decisions of, ‘Well this crappy but I got to eat’ to then the point of going, ‘OK, how do I want to influence the storyline and how do I, let’s say regarding other people who do not have as much power, how do I influence the casting on the show? How do I influence the people behind the camera on the show because now after all this time, I’m able to say something? If you still want to work as an actor and be creative and empowered as an actor, I swear you can still do it.”

The veteran Grey’s Anatomy star is leaving the series after 15 years.

Chambers, who has played Dr. Alex Karev since ABC’s hit medical drama’s first season, has announced that he’s exiting the show.

It was closely followed by Black Panther, which managed to get five nominations.

TV categories proved that the strong fan base can get you anywhere when it comes to People’s Choice Awards. Fantasy series Shadowhunters: The Mortal Instruments managed to score five nominations – most of them thanks to the write-in votes. Grey’s Anatomy also received five nods, including best TV show and best drama show.

Something similar happened in the musical categories, where South Korean boy band BTS managed to beat the likes of Cardi B and Camila Cabello to receive a total of four nominations.

People’s Choice Awards voting will be open until October 19 and the winners will be announced on November 11 on E!
