According to The Hollywood Reporter, the single-camera comedy follows two Pittsburgh families — a father (Walsh) with three adult daughters (Swisher will play the eldest) and a hotel lounge singer (Williams) with her son — who are forced together after a decades-old secret is revealed.
Sheri the lounge singer is described as a diva with no money who had one hit in the late ‘80s. Her son is the most important thing in her life, but her career is a closesecond.
The series hails from Modern Family writers Abraham Higginbotham and Jon Pollack. The two will also exec produce alongside pilot helmer Kat Coiro.

The series is titled Happy Accidents and according to Variety, it follows Pittsburgh families — a father with three adult daughters, and a hotel lounge singer with her med student son — as they are forced together after a decades-old secret is revealed.
According to the outlet, the project as a spec script at 20th TV. ABC Studios intends to begin casting immediately and production is expected to begin at the beginning of the upcoming pilot season. The search for a director is also underway.
Happy Accident marks the second commitment ABC has given to a project form 20th TV. It joins the iconic cop drama NYPD Blue.
