Based on Alice Oseman’s upcoming sixth and final Heartstopper graphic novel, this Netflix movie will bring Nick and Charlie’s love story to its conclusion.
“After Season 3, the couple is inseparable. But, with Nick preparing to leave for university and Charlie finding new independence at school, the reality of a long-distance relationship begins to weigh on them. Doubts take hold, and their relationship faces its biggest challenge yet,” reads Netflix’s official logline.
Oseman created Heartstopper for Netflix, drawing inspiration from her own graphic novels, and she wrote the script for the final movie. Still Alice helmer Wash Westmoreland will be in charge of directing it, and the production is expected to kick off later this summer.
Kit Connor and Joe Locke will lead the cast as Nick and Charlie, and they’ll also be credited as the film’s executive producers. The ensemble of the original series also included Yasmin Finney, Tobie Donovan, Jenny Walser, Corinna Brown, Kizzy Edgell, Rhea Norwood, and Olivia Colman, but Netflix is yet to announce who will be back for the feature-length film.

Bailey’s casting doesn’t come as a shocker to Heartstopper fans because rumors about his potential involvement made the rounds online last month. He’ll make a cameo as an Instagram-famous classicist and Charlie’s celebrity crush, Jack Maddox, and Heartstopper teased his role with a short clip on social media.
Heartstopper creator Alice Oseman said they’re incredibly excited to be welcoming three new cast members, and revealed what we can expect from Atwell’s and Marsan’s characters.
“Hayley Atwell joins the Nelson family as Nick’s Aunt Diane, who takes Nick on a summer holiday to Menorca and has some tough advice to impart about his relationship. Eddie Marsan will be portraying a beloved character from the graphic novels: Geoff, Charlie’s wise and straight-talking therapist,” said Oseman in a statement.
Joe Locke and Nick Nelson will return as leads in the third season of Heartstopper, along with supporting players William Gao, Yasmin Finney, Corinna Brown, Kizzy Edgell, Tobie Donovan, Jenny Walser, Rhea Norwood, and Leila Khan. Eight new episodes will debut on Netflix this October, and the streamer is yet to announce the official release date.
