Jake Lacy has been tapped to star as a series regular opposite previously announced Zoë Kravitz. 

The series is a small-screen adaptation of Nick Hornby’s 1995 novel and the 2000 film starring John Cusack. The reboot, however, brings with it a change of point of view and will be told through Kravitz’s character.

Kravitz will portray the ultimate music lover and record store owner who’s obsessed with pop culture and Top Five lists. Lacy will play Clyde, who is described as effortlessly cute, if not the coolest guy in the room. A recent N.Y. transplant from L.A., he’s still trying to figure out how to navigate the city. Despite his lack of interest in music, he reveals a funny and open side that intrigues Rob (Kravitz). But he might prove to be just like all the other guys… or so it seems.

The reboot hails from writers Veronica West and Sarah Kucserka. The two also executive produce alongside Scott Rosenberg, who co-wrote the High Fidelity film, Josh Appelbaum, André Nemec, and Jeff Pinkner, as well as Hornby himself.

Based on a classic novel by Nick Hornby, High Fidelity centers on a record shop owner taking a look at his top five worst breakups – including the one in progress. The adaptation hit the big screen back in 2000 when John Cusack played the lead.

the previous adaptation focused on music loving everyman Rob, but things will be a little bit different this time around. Kravitz will tackle the role of a record shop owner and compulsive list-maker that once belonged to Cusack.

In addition to playing the lead, the Fantastic Beasts actress will also serve as executive producer. This project is very close to her heart since her mom Lisa Bonet appeared in the 2000 adaptation.

The gender-flipped remake of High Fidelity will run for 10 episodes on Disney’s upcoming streaming service. It will launch in late 2019 and feature a mix of original content and works from its archives.
