The 44-year-old actress has been tapped to headline the steaming giant’s forthcoming space drama Away from Jason Katims and Matt Reeves.

The two-time Academy Award winner will play American astronaut Emma Green, who must leave her husband and teenage daughter behind to command an international space crew embarking upon a treacherous mission to the Red Planet.

Jessica Goldberg has signed on to serve as showrunner. Universal Television is producing. Swank will also exec produce. 

Swank, who is best know for her roles on Boys Don’t Cry and Million Dollar Baby is continuing her TV push. Her most recent project was Trust.

The actress has secretly married entrepreneur Philip Schneider. 

A year and a half after the couple, who were set up by close friends, were engaged, they said their ‘I do’s’ over the weekend. The wedding took place the Saint Lucia Preserve in Carmel, California. Swank told Vogue that the redwood grove was the perfect setting, “We found exactly what we were looking for at the Santa Lucia Preserve. It’s a stunning private community surrounded by 20,000 acres of conservancy and an intimate redwood grove populated with trees that are over 800 years old.”

The outlet also shared stunning photos of the happy couple’s outdoor ceremony. Swank opted for two gowns, the first was an Elie Saab Couture creation that featured 25 meters of Chantilly lace, eight meters of silk chiffon, and six meters of organza silk and took 150 hours to create.

I’ve loved Elie Saab for years and was thrilled to have him design my dress,” Hilary told the outlet. “I wanted something romantic that felt as timeless as the redwood grove where we were to be married, and he delivered—designing something that far surpassed my greatest expectations. It was everything I imagined and more.”

The reception took place in a rustic barn that’s over 100 years old, which was illuminated with hundreds of globe string lights.

Swank will play a seductive police detective that tricks a married man into a murder scheme.

“Getting tough, smart, beautiful, and perplexing all in one performance is daunting – until you get Hilary Swank, then you breathe easier and things get really exciting,” said Taylor. “We’re really looking forward to making this movie and letting Hilary do what she does best – command the screen.”

Production begins in Los Angeles next month. You can see Swank next in What They Had, which opens in October.
