Hollywood, Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan’s seven-episode Netflix limited series about postwar Tinseltown, has released a trailer.

The series will tell the stories of aspiring actors and filmmakers trying to make it into show business at any cost post- World War II. Dylan McDermott plays Ernie, a gas station owner who runs a secret call boy service and dreams of getting his big break in Hollywood. Veteran Jack (David Corenswert) also dreams of making it big, ends up at Ernie’s secret operation.

Hollywood will take a deeper look into the industry’s race, gender, and sexuality biases as well as power dynamics within the business. “The characters who had been, and in the real world would continue to be, beaten down have great moments of victory and of aspiration,” Brennan told Variety.

Murphy previously described the series as “a love letter to the Golden Age of Tinseltown.”

Darren Criss, Jeremy Pope, Laura Harrier, Samama Weaving, Holland Taylor, Patti LuPone, Jim Parsons, Jake Picking, Joe Mantello, Maude Apatow, Rob Reiner, Mira Sorvino, and Michelle Krusiec will also star in the series.

Hollywood will be Murphy’s third project with Netflix, following The Politician and Ratched.

Check out the trailer below and watch Hollywood on Netflix starting May 1.

Darren Criss teams with Ryan Murphy — again!

The Glee alum has confirmed that he will star in and executive produce Murphy’s new drama Hollywood.

Honored to say that I’m heading back to the House of Murphy where I’ll be starring in but also executive producing HOLLYWOOD with Time’s King of Television,” he wrote Saturday.

“Late last year, [Ryan Murphy] and I had dinner where he shared that he wanted to do a period piece that was young and optimistic. We landed on the idea of a series covering several narratives from 1940s Hollywood. We both left that evening feeling super excited about its potential. Two days later Netflix bought it. Not only is that a testament to the magic of Ryan Murphy, it’s a reminder of the kind of thing that can only happen in Hollywood…literally.”

In addition to Glee, Criss also collaborated with Murphy on American Horror Story, and The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story.

Hollywood marks Murphy’s first original series under his overall deal at Netflix. It is set to premiere on the streaming giant May 2020.

The writer-producer is heading to Netflix.

Multiple outlets confirm that Brad Falchuk has inked a massive four-year overall deal with the streaming giant. According to sources, the Glee, American Horror Story and American Crime Story executive producer’s deal is in the eight-figure range.

Under the deal, Falchuk will develop, write, produce and direct new series for Netflix through his Brad Falchuk Teley-Vision banner.

“We are thrilled to welcome Brad Falchuk to Netflix,” said Cindy Holland, VP of Original Content at Netflix. “As a storyteller, Brad is a taste maker and trail blazer, and he is a writer/director with a true knack for piercing the cultural zeitgeist. There is no limit to what Brad can accomplish with Netflix as his new home.”

Falchuk is the latest name to set an overall deal as the market for original content talent is becoming more and more competitive. He joins Ryan Murphy and Shonda Rhimes who also opted for Netflix rather than a traditional studio.

Falchuk’s deal with 20th Century Fox Television expires June 1.

The decision that four categories were not going to be shown on TV has been reversed.

The hugely unpopular decision to relegate the awards for Cinematography, Editing, Make-Up and Hairstyling and Live Action Short to commercial breaks was reversed by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

The decision not to air these four categories live, but rather in edited form was followed by a major backlash from Hollywood A-listers and icons of the idustry including Brad Pitt, Russell Crowe, George Clooney, Quentin Tarantino, Guillermo del Toro and more.

“The Academy has heard the feedback from its membership regarding the Oscar presentation of four awards – Cinematography, Film Editing, Live Action Short, and Makeup and Hairstyling. All Academy Awards will be presented without edits, in our traditional format. We look forward to Oscar Sunday, February 24,” an Academy statement said.

It seems this year’s Oscars has already seen its fair share of controversy, first with Kevin Hart who stepped down as host following the discovery of controversial old tweets. Luckily now it seems that common sense has prevailed.

The 91st Academy Awards will take place at the Dolby Theatre, Los Angeles, California. The awards will be handed out by a host of stars including Emilia Clarke, Gary Oldman, Brie Larson and many more.

Now that’s what you call a star-studded runway!

Hollywood’s leading ladies strutted their stuff to showcase the 2019 Cruise collection at Hotel Regina in Paris on Saturday.

Miuccia Prada got together a cast of A-listers to walk the runway in Miu Miu’s latest creations. Uma Thurman led the pack in a killer outfit wearing a green and sparkly cheetah print floor-length dress, a black kimono with yellow stripes and mustard sunglasses with silver metallic lenses, a black kimono and mustard sunglasses with silver metallic lenses.

The 48-year-old actress was joined by Jaime King, Chloë Sevigny, Kate Bosworth, Gwendoline Christie, Sadie Sink, and others, in addition to models Kaia Gerber, Naomi Campbell, Adriana Lima, and Adwoa Aboah.

King was clad in a see-through pale yellow cut-out chiffon gown and an embellished top. Underneath the design, she wore blue floral underwear. Bosworth’s rocked a peach bedazzled nightgown, gold strappy sandals, a dark brown bag and a bright orange cardigan.

This isn’t the first time a designer opts to have celebs walk the runway instead or alongside models and it sure looks like crowds enjoy the break with tradition and Hollywood’s runway takeover.

Hollywood’s biggest night is finally here with a slew of A-list presenters, great performances with funny man Jimmy Kimmel orchestrating the night.

According to tradition, the 90th annual Academy Awards began with the returning host’s opening monologue. Kimmel of course joked about last year’s envelope fiasco suggesting to Hollywood’s biggest names to not “get up right away” when they hear their name called. Kimmel also made good on his promise to bring up the Time’s Up initiative, joking that there is a silver lining as Oscar is the perfect man because he “keeps his hands where you can see them…and most importantly, no penis at all.”

Going into the ceremony, Guillermo del Toro’s The Shape of Water leads with 13 nominations, followed by Dunkirk with 8 and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri with 7. Not too far behind are Phantom Thread and Darkest Hour.

Taking home the Oscars for Best Actor and Best Actress are Gary Oldman for his work as Winston Churchill in Darkest Hour and Frances McDormand for Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri respectively. McDormand, the now two-time-winner couldn’t hide her excitement saying, “I’m hyperventilating a little bit. If I fall over, pick me up because I’ve got some things to say.”

Winning the first Oscar of the night for Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri was actually Sam Rockwell who took home the very well deserved Best Supporting Actor for his portrayal of a racist cop. It’s safe to assume that after this huge win, he will no longer be known as ‘that actor.’

The night’s biggest winner is without a doubt, Guillermo del Toro’s Cold War sci-fi romance The Shape of Water. Taking home both the coveted Best Picture award and del Toro himself taking home the prize for Best Director. When presented with his first ever win he said, “I am an immigrant. I think the greatest thing that art does and our industry does is erase the lines in the sand. I think we should continue doing that.” After Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway presented Best Picture (again), del Toro made sure to check the envelope, to which some would say, rightfully so! The Shape of Water also won prizes for production design and original score.

And the envelope goes to… 15 additional actors and actresses of Hollywood’s elite, who have been chosen to present at the 90th Academy Awards.

The first batch of stars presenting was announced on the second week of February and included funny girl Tiffany Haddish, who did an awesome job announcing the nominees, Michael De Luca and Jennifer Todd. The list goes with La La Land star Emma Stone who won the best actress award last year, Mahershala Ali who received the award for best-supporting actor, for Moonlight, and Viola Davis who took home the prize for supporting actress, for Fences.

The second announcement last week included actors Mark Hamill and Kelly Marie Tran of Star Wars: The Last Jedi, as well as Lin-Manuel Miranda, Armie Hammer, Oscar Isaac, Zendaya, Gina Rodriguez, Eva Marie Saint, and Wes Studi. The announcement also included star of the Oscar-snubbed film, Wonder Woman’s Gal Gadot.

Another slate of presenters on Hollywood’s big night was just announced by producers Michael De Luca and Jennifer Tod. The two announced Tuesday that Lupita Nyong’o, Sandra Bullock, Jane Fonda, Emily Blunt, Dave Chappelle, Eugenio Derbez, Ansel Elgort, Jodie Foster, Eiza González, Ashley Judd, Nicole Kidman, Matthew McConaughey, Helen Mirren, Rita Moreno, and Christopher Walken, have been added to the list of stars that will take the stage to present an award.

In various statements, producers De Luca and Tod said, “Whether returning to the Oscars stage or gracing it for the first time, each of these artists brings their own distinguishing and energetic appeal. Their contributions will make for an unforgettable evening. Together, these artists represent some of the most beloved movies of our generation. It’s an honor to welcome them to the 90th Oscars stage.”

The 90th Academy Awards, hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, will air March 4

Congratulations to Amy Schumer!

Valentine’s came early for Schumer and her beau, Chris Fischer. Shortly after officially confirming that she and Fischer are together, with a sweet PDA pic from Ellen’s 60th b-day bash, the two tied the knot Tuesday.

The intimate ceremony was held at a beachfront estate in Malibu, California. The comedienne confirmed the marriage uploading pictures of the wedding, captioning them with a simple, “Yup.”

Amy looked gorgeous in a Monique Lhuillier lace gown. Comedian John Early officiated the ceremony, dressed in drag. A source told E! that it was a “casual afternoon ceremony,” adding that the couple “said personal vows that lasted about 15 minutes and got a ton of laughs from the crowd. It was a perfect day for them with beautiful weather and a great sunset. They were both glowing and couldn’t have been happier.”

Stepping out to celebrate the surprise nuptials were quite a few Hollywood A-listers including Jennifer Lawrence, Jennifer Aniston, Judd Apatow, Larry David, Jake Gyllenhaal, Chelsea Handler and Jerry Seinfeld.

Congrats, you two!
