]]>The premium cabler has picked up the Issa Rae comedy for season five three weeks after its season four premiere.
Rae, who created the show, heads the ensemble cast, which also includes Yvonne Orji, Jay Ellis, Natasha Rothwell, Amanda Seales, and Alexander Hodge.
“We’re thrilled that Issa, Prentice, and the whole Insecure team will be getting back together for a fifth season,” said Amy Gravitt, executive vice president of HBO Programming. “As we laugh and cringe with recognition, their stories make us all feel a little less alone in the world.”
Across its four seasons, the series, inspired by Rae’s web series Awkward Black Girl, has averaged a 95% critical approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

News about HBO being hacked first spread Monday morning, when the hackers went to media to announce they had stolen episodes of Ballers, Insecure, and Room 104, as well as the script for the next episode of Game of Thrones, scheduled to air on August 6.
