It all began January 4, when an account, ‘world_record_egg’ uploaded its one and only post ever. The photo of the egg was captioned with, “Let’s set a world record together and get the most liked post on Instagram. Beating the current world record held by Kylie Jenner (18 million)! We got this.” And well… it worked — currently, the picture has over 24 million likes!

Despite losing to an egg, Jenner had the best response. On Sunday, she shared a video titled “Kylie when she sees the world record egg account.” She captioned the video “Take that little egg.” In the video, Kylie first felt the ground to confirm that the asphalt was “really hot.” She then cracked the shell on the sidewalk and watched the now on the ground sunny-side up egg bubble. 

Despite losing her Instagram record, we think it’s safe to say that the young billionaire isn’t going to lose any sleep over it.

The 26-year-old singer has been officially dethroned as the platform’s most followed user. She is now second to soccer player Cristiano Ronaldo who currently has 144.6 million followers on Instagram, compared to Gomez’s 144.4 million.

This follows the singer’s latest announcement that she is taking some time off social media (again). Gomez’s complicated relationship with social media and Instagram in particular is not news. She has been known to stay away from SM, with the latest announcement telling fans she’s taking a break came just over a month ago. 

The singer posted a photo of herself on Instagram, writing, “Update: taking a social media break. Again. As much as I am grateful for the voice that social media gives each of us, I am equally grateful to be able to step back and live my life present to the moment I have been given.” Since the announcement on September 23, which has received over 8.2 million likes, the singer has kept off social media. 

Apparently, before that, Gomez had kept off the internet for months.

“The reason why is, it’s not real to me,” she told ELLE. “I know my voice is very prominent, but I’m not careless with it. I’m selective. As far as my personal life, someone sees me having a glass of wine? I could give two s**ts. I’m not trying to hide. That’s my life. I’m living it the way I want to live it. But it’s about making a conscious effort—if I can have a moment to be with my friends, I’ll take that time. So I don’t have any of it. I had to make that decision. 

Ariana Grande is the third most followed Instagram user, with 132+ million followers, while Kim Kardashian is the fourth, with 119+ million.

The 56-year-old actor and made a surprising move, joining the social network Friday afternoon.

Fox announced the news to his followers via his Twitter account, with a very simple message, “Hey, I’m on Instagram now.”

For his first post, Fox opted for two pics taken of himself and Kiefer Sutherland, taken 30 years apart. The first is an on-set snap from the ABC drama Designated Survivor where Fox has signed on or a five-episode arc. Fox plays Ethan West, a relentless lawyer and formidable adversary for President Tom Kirkman (Sutherland).

The snaps were captioned, “If 30 years ago these 2 Canadians knew they would be working in the Oval Office, they would have been on better behavior,” Fox captioned the shot. “Thanks Kiefer. This is now, swipe for then.”

The band’s official Instragram account was reactivated Monday night after five years of silence. The reactivated account was sparked rumors of a possible brotherly reunion as fans believe this to be a sigh that the pop rock back will get back together.

The band split of about five years ago in 2013, with youngest brother, Nick Jones, now 25, told PEOPLE that their decision to call it quits was because “prioritizing our family is really important to us.” Kevin added, “We’re choosing our family because it was becoming toxic.”

Rumors of a possible reunion were fueled further when the band’s backing musician, Ryan Liestman’s took to social media and posted a photo with Nick, Joe and Kevin. He captioned the snap, “Family reunion.”

While the brothers themselves have yet to address the reunion rumors and whether fans should expect the band to come back together, ever, Nick did share a screenshot to Instagram Stories that Jonas Brothers was a trending topic on Twitter, captioning it with a simple “Whoa.”
