]]>Sources close to the acclaimed director have confirmed that for the first time in the Indiana Jones’ almost four-decade-long history, he won’t take his place in the director’s chair.
According to a source, “The decision to hand over directing duties was entirely Steven’s,” adding that, “he felt now was the perfect time to let a new director and a new generation give their perspective to the overall story and this film.”
In talks to helm the fifth installment of the adventure franchise is James Mangold, whose directorial titles include Ford v Ferrari, Wolverine, and Logan.
Indiana Jones 5 is set to hit theaters on July 9, 2021.

]]>James Mangold’s next directorial effort will capture the battle between Ford and Ferrari to win Le Mans in 1966. It will center on a determined team of American engineers and designers, led by automotive visionary Carroll Shelby and his British driver, Ken Miles, who are trying to win the race for Ford by building a brand-new trailblazing vehicle.
Christian Bale, who previously starred in Mangold’s western 3:10 to Yuma, will take on the role of Ken Miles, and he’ll be joined by Matt Damon as Carroll Shelby. The cast also includes the likes of Caitriona Balfe, Jon Bernthal, and Tracy Letts and Remo Girone as Henry Ford II and Enzo Ferrari.
Ford V. Ferrari is scheduled to be released on November 15th, in the peak of the awards season.
