Parenting Without Borders (working title), officially greenlit by the streamer, is described as Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown but with parenting as its focus rather than food. Variety reports that the travel show will follow Alba as she immerses herself with families around the world, exploring the parenting beliefs and practices shaping families today.

Kathryn O’Kane will serve as director and showrunner of Parenting Without Borders. Alba will also executive produce alongside Boardwalk Pictures’ Andrew Fried and Dane Lillegard, Jamie Patricof of Hunting Lane, Doug Banker of Five All In The Fifth and Trevor Engelson of Underground.

Alba, an actress and entrepreneur, is a mother of three and the co-founder of The Honest Company.

Stars Gabrielle Union and Jessica Alba confirmed that Spectrum Originals has picked up the cop show for another season Friday at the opening night of the 59th Monte Carlo Television Festival.

The Bad Boys spinoff stars Union as a police detective (a revival of the Syd Burnett character she played in the 2003’s Bad Boys II) who is teamed up with a new partner, Nancy McKenna (Alba). The two soon become a force to be reckoned with. 

“We’re thrilled L.A.’s Finest has resonated with our subscribers in such a major way. When I first saw the pilot — a show about two strong women learning to trust and support each other and still getting into plenty of trouble — I knew I’d follow them anywhere,” said Katherine Pope, head of Spectrum Originals. “Kudos to Gabrielle and Jessica, as stars and executive producers, along with creators Brandon Sonnier and Brandon Margolis and everyone else involved, for helping us launch our first original series and making the decision to greenlight a second season incredibly easy.”

“We are overwhelmed by the audience’s response to L.A.’s Finest,” said SPT President Jeff Frost. ”Gabrielle and Jessica are brilliant together and our incredible showrunners Brandon Sonnier, Brandon Margolis and Pam Veasey did an amazing job of crafting an action-packed and riveting season one. Charter and producers Sony Pictures Television announced Tuesday at the series has finally found a home, after it was initially developed and passed over by NBC. With a 13-episode order, the drama series catches up with Syd Burnett and Nancy McKenna, Gabrielle Union and Jessica Alba’s characters respectively from Bad Boys II, more than a decade after the events of the movie. 

The series is executive produced by Jerry Bruckheimer alongside Alba and Union.

“Charter is excited to partner with top producers Sony, Bruckheimer and the rest of the incredible team behind and in front of the camera on our first Spectrum Original Content endeavor,” said Pope, Senior VP and head of originals at Charter Communications. “Our content partnerships offer us a great opportunity to provide Spectrum customers with the dynamic, authentic and unique programming that drives value for their Spectrum subscription.”

Union also took to Instagram to confirm the news writing, “The will they or won’t they is over – it’s happening people!!!!” LA’s Finest has been officially picked up by Charter Communications’… marking their first major series order for Spectrum.
