Around 1,200 boys auditioned for the role of the titular character, but newcomer Ferdia Shaw was the one who proved he’s up for the challenge. This big screen-adaptation will premiere on August 9, 2019, and it also stars Lara McDonnell, Josh Gad, and Judi Dench.

This exciting project is based on another of Agatha Christie’s murder mysteries, solved by the legendary detective Hercule Poirot. The action takes place in Egypt this time around and centers on the murder of a young heiress.

Gadot will portray rich socialite Linnet Doyle, tangled up in a complicated romance which leads to tragedy, leaving detective Poirot to solve the mystery. Just like the rest of Christie’s stories, Death on the Nile comes with a colorful collection of supporting characters, who all happen to be suspects in the case.

Kenneth Branagh directed and starred in the previous installment in this growing franchise, but it’s still unclear if he’ll return for the sequel. Death on the Nile will be released in theaters on December 20, 2019, and the rest of the cast is yet to be announced.
