Freakier Friday will put a multigenerational twist on the original 2003 film, and here’s what it has in store, according to Disney’s official logline:

“The film picks up years after Tess (Curtis) and Anna (Lohan) endured an identity crisis. Anna now has a daughter of her own and a soon-to-be stepdaughter. As they navigate the myriad challenges that come when two families merge, Tess and Anna discover that lightning might indeed strike twice.”

In addition to Curtis and Lohan, Mark Harmon, Chad Michael Murray, Christina Vidal Mitchell, Haley Hudson, Lucille Soong, Stephen Tobolowsky, and Rosalind Chao will also reprise their roles from the original film. They’ll be joined by Julia Butters, Sophia Hammons, Manny Jacinto, Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, and Vanessa Bayer.

The original Freaky Friday came out in 2003, and it starred Curtis and Lohan as a mother-daughter duo whose lives take a wild turn after their bodies are magically switched. It was based on Mary Rodgers’s book of the same name, which previously inspired several adaptations.

Freaky Friday will be released by Walt Disney Studios on August 8 before streaming on Disney+ at a later date.

The actress-turned-singer-songwriter-turned-businesswoman is back with new music after a 12-year hiatus.

Lohan took to her social media accounts, sharing a 30-second teaser captioned with nothing but “I’m back!”

The clip follows Lohan’s under-the-radar comment about a third studio album to be released at the end of last month — which by the way, never happened. She also dropped a similar teaser of a new single in August 2019 titled “Xanax.” The snippet of the music mysteriously disappeared and the song was never officially released.

Lohan dropped her debut album, Speak, in 2004. It peaked at No. 4 on the Billboard 200.

But there’s more to the duo’s reunion than just a selfie. According to Entertainment Weekly, following the premiere of Lindsay Lohan’s Beach Club the two will join forces in the Lindsay Lohan’s Beach Club: After The Show, in which Lohan will answer questions about her Mykonos empire, as well as all of her business ventures, as Bennett hosts. 

Lohan’s docuseries began shooting in July and follows Lohan and partner Panos Spentzos as she expands her business empire in Mykonos, Greece. Lohan boasts three business ventures in Greece. 

Lindsay Lohan’s Beach Club premieres January 8.

“There’s a business side to my life now, but I’m not in America, so no one knows about it, which is nice for me,” the 31-year-old actress shares. “Because I get to actually focus on the result of things.”

She hopes that her fans will get to see the different side of her, one that is way different than how the tabloids perceived her over the past few years.

“I’m a normal, nice person. A good person,” she explains. “I don’t have any bad intentions. And my past has to stay in the past. Like, people have to just let go of it and stop bringing it up because it’s not — it’s gone. It’s dead. And that’s the most important thing to me.”
