Swift revealed her new album will be called Midnights and that it’s coming on October 21, but it didn’t take her long to share more details about this record. She took to social media to introduce the album and described it as “a journey through terrors and sweet dreams”.
Swift took two more trophies at this year’s MTV VMAs with “All Too Well”—best longform video and best direction. Surprisingly enough, she wasn’t even the most awarded artist of the night.
That honor belonged to Jack Harlow, who picked up four accolades—song of summer for “First Class” and best collaboration, best art direction, and best visual effects for No. 1 single “Industry Baby” with Lil Nas X. It was also a big night for Harry Styles, who collected three trophies including album of the year for Harry’s House.
The 2022 MTV Video Music Awards took place on August 28 at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, with LL Cool J, Nicki Minaj, and Jack Harlow sharing the hosting duties.

]]>Lil Nas X and Jack Harlow are competing by each other’s side in most categories after collaborating on the chart-topping hit “Industry Baby”. This song is in the running for two of the night’s main categories – the video and song of the year.
“Industry Baby” has been nominated for the best collaboration, direction, art direction, choreography, and visual effects, as well. Lil Nas X and Harlow also scored individual nominations for the artist of the year, along with Lizzo, Harry Styles, Drake, and more.
As for Kendrick Lamar, he won’t be competing in any of the main categories, but that didn’t stop him from scoring seven nominations with songs “N95”, “The Heart Part 5”, and “Family Ties” featuring Baby Keem. The list of main contenders also includes Doja Cat and Harry Styles with six nominations, and Billie Eilish, Drake, Dua Lipa, Ed Sheeran, Taylor Swift, and The Weeknd with five each.

]]>This year, the VMAs took place at various audience-less locations around New York City to adhere to the strict social distancing guidelines of COVID-19. BTS, The Black Eyed Peas, DaBaby, The Weeknd, Doja Cat, Maluma with CNCO, and Lady Gaga with Ariana Grande performed at the awards show.
In addition to performing, the Weeknd went home with the biggest award of the night, Video of the Year, for “Blinding Lights.”
#vmamomentsOther big winners of the night were Lady Gaga who won the awards for Artist of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Collaboration, Best Cinematography, and the first-ever Tricon Award, BTS for Best Pop, Best K-Pop, Best Group, and Best Choreography, Taylor Swift for Best Direction, Doja Cat for Best New Artist, Megan Thee Stallion for Best Hip-Hop, and Blackpink for Song of the Summer.
This year, there were quarantine-specific categories including Best Music Video From Home which Ariana Grande and Justin Bieber took home the win for “Stuck With U” and Best Quarantine Performance which CNCO won.
