]]>The latest Tiger King News is quite exciting as it’s being turned into an eight-episode scripted series with Nicolas Cage set to play Joe Exotic! The series will be based on the Texas Monthly article, “Joe Exotic: A Dark Journey Into the World of a Man Gone Wild,” by Leif Reigstad and it will tell the story of Joe Schreibvogel, a.k.a. Joe Exotic, an eccentric exotic zookeeper in Oklahoma who tries to keep his park, while losing his own sanity. It’s also going to explore how Joe Exotic became the character he is today and how he got wrapped up in the persona.
The series will be Cage’s first regular television role as he’s known for his roles in films including Leaving Las Vegas, Moonstruck, Raising Arizona, Face/Off, the National Treasure films, and the Ghost Rider films.
This will be the second scripted series about Tiger King as the first was announced late last year and it’s based on the Wondery podcast “Joe Exotic.” Kate McKinnon will executive produce and star as Carole Baskin.

]]>Nicolas Cage is set to star in the forthcoming sci-fi martial arts movie, directed and written by Dimitri Logothetis (Kickboxer: Retaliation and Kickboxer: Armageddon).
Cage will star opposite the previously announced Alain Moussi, who starred as the lead in Logothetis’ Kickboxer: Retaliation.
Here’s the feature’s official logline: Every six years, an ancient order of expert Jiu Jitsu fighters faces a fearsome alien invader in a battle for Earth. When war hero and master Jiu Jitsu fighter Jake Barnes (Moussi) refuses to face Brax, the indomitable leader of the invaders, the future of humanity hangs in the balance. Injured and suffering from severe amnesia, Jake is captured by a military squad who have descended upon the planet and is rescued by Wylie (Cage) and a team of fellow Jiu Jitsu fighters who must help him recover his memory and regain his strength to engage in an epic battle that will once again determine the fate of mankind.
“After we successfully reintroduced the Kickboxer franchise to a new generation of martial arts fans with the sixth and seventh entries in the series, we set out to up the ante with a sci-fi martial arts franchise that could bring the same kind of intensity and longevity to a new arena,” Logothetis said of Jiu Jitsu.

]]>Entertainment Weekly will star in the big screen adaptation of H.P. Lovecraft’s novella, Color Out of Space. The feature is helmed by South African filmmaker Richard Stanley. Cage joins the previously announced Joely Richardson, Tommy Chong, Elliot Knight, Julian Hilliard, and Q’Orianka Kilcher.
The feature will be produced by SpectreVision’s Daniel Noah, Josh C. Waller, Lisa Whalen and Elijah Wood.
“Lovecraft is the dark father of modern horror, and we have been searching for an adaptation that captures the true scope of his cosmic dread for years,” Noah said in a statement. “Richard Stanley — a wizard in his own right — will at long last bring Lovecraft’s humbling power to the screen unfiltered.”
“The adaptation by Richard Stanley is outstanding and unique, a perfect canvas for Nicolas Cage’s inimitable acting style. We are tremendously excited to continue our partnership with SpectreVision and their signature style of genre,” added executive producer Johnny Chang.
Color Out of Space will be Stanley’s first film since he exited The Island of Dr. Moreau in 1995.
