Anthony Anderson attended the Emmys as a nominee on several occasions in the past, and he’s getting ready to return as a host next year. The Black-ish star has been announced as the host at the upcoming Primetime Emmy Awards, taking place in Los Angeles this January.

The Television Academy chair Frank Scherma described Anderson as a multi-talented performer and a great friend of the Academy, and added they’re “thrilled that he is hosting what promises to be a rich celebration of the year’s outstanding television, as well as 75 years of Emmys excellence.”

Anderson said he can’t wait to be part of the biggest night in television, and he’ll certainly feel right at home on the Emmys stage. Anderson scored 11 nominations as star and executive producer of the ABC sitcom Black-ish, which ended its run last year. He went on to star in Kenya Barris’s comedy You People and will soon host the game show We Are Family.

After a major delay in the face of dual strikes in Hollywood, the 75th Primetime Emmy Awards are scheduled to take place on January 15, 2024. The final season of HBO’s Succession will come into the night with 14 nominations, closely followed by The White Lotus with 12.
