Forbes recently presented their annual list of highest paid TV hosts and it looks like working on a reality television court is really profitable these days. According to the magazine, the highest paid TV host in 2018 was Judy Sheindlin aka Judge Judy, the star of Daytime Emmy Award-winning reality court show of the same name.

Sheindlin took home $147 million pretax, mostly thanks to the fact that she sold the rights to 5,200 past episodes of Judge Judy to CBS alongside the rights to future episodes of the show for around $100 million. The remaining $47 million came from the annual salary for hosting the series and earnings she pocketed as Hot Bench producer.

Ellen DeGeneres, the host of The Ellen DeGeneres Show, managed to claim the second spot on the list earning $87.5 million pretax. Besides the fee received from hosting the popular talk show, DeGeneres’ earnings were boosted by the $20 million check she received earlier this year for her Netflix stand-up special. She also earns millions in producer salaries and licensing fees.

Dr. Phil McGraw has a successful year behind him, starting several different ventures that helped him earn more than $77 million pretax. Besides hosting Dr. Phil, one of the most popular daytime talk shows on television, McGraw also increased his bank account by producing shows The Bull, The Doctors and Daily Mail TV as well as cofounding the app Doctors on Demand.

The list of highest paid TV hosts in 2018 concludes with American Idol’s Ryan Seacrest, who earned $74 million, and Family Feud’s Steve Harvey, who pocketed $44 million.

In order to compile the list, Forbes used data from Nielsen, Box Office Mojo and IMDB, alongside information from sources within the industry and estimated earnings from June 1, 2017, through June 1, 2018.

It’s official! Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan will be joining pop princess Katy Perry for the reboot of American Idol.

ABC made the announcement on Friday afternoon, that the two singers will complete the judges panel, making their debut appearance on ABC’s good morning America on Wednesday, October 4. President of ABC entertainment, Channing Dungey elaborated on why the network think that Luke and Lionel will be the “perfect additions” to the panel of judges for American Idol:

“In their respective genres of music, both Luke and Lionel possess insurmountable popularity and award-winning talent that are undeniable, and we are lucky that they will help in paving the way for hopefuls pursuing their dreams on our stage.”

Both Richie and Bryan are reportedly thrilled to be joining the show. Richie spoke of how excited he is to be working with Katy, Luke and Ryan on the show, “as a singer, songwriter and producer, I feel I can bring a great deal of experience to the table. It’s going to be so much fun!”

Network chiefs were more then delighted to get Ryan back on board as host as they attribute so much of the show’s “overwhelming success” to the host. Dungey added that Ryan’s talent is “limitless,” and that he “can’t think of a more appropriate person to honor the Idol legacy as it takes on new life than the man who has been there through it all.”

Season sixteen of American Idol debuts March 2018 on ABC.

After 15 seasons and 13 months off the air, American Idol was picked up by ABC for a reboot.

In an interview with ET last Saturday, the show’s alum Adam Lambert opened up about how he would love to somehow be a part of the show’s reboot. The 8th season’s runner-up added that even though the production has not reached out to him, he thinks the show is great, and after such a positive experience on Austrlia’s X Factor he would love to work with hopeful young singers.

42 year-old Ryan Seacrest announced he will return as the singing competition show’s host on Live With Kelly and Ryan. The production company told ET that a revival of Idol would have been unthinkable without Seacrest, adding that, [t]he fans want the show back and they want it with Ryan.”

During the show’s annual Upfronts presentation in New York City back in May, it was also confirmed that Katy Perry has officially signed on as one of Idol’s judges. In a press release sent out after the announcement Perry said that, “[she is] honored and thrilled to be the first judge bringing back the American Idol tradition of making dreams come true for incredible talents with authentic personalities and real stories.”

Keeping Up With The Kardashians will be celebrating their 10-year anniversary in October and the women of the popular reality TV series sat down for a group interview with The Hollywood Reporter.

Kris Jenner, the matriarch of the family, told The Hollywood Reporter, “If we’re going to do this, we have to be all in,” she said of their original intent of the show. “We have to really be who we are.”

Here are the things they revealed during the interview, according to E! News.

  1. The show’s title, Keeping Up With The Kardashians just happened.

The team originally struggled to figure what the series was going to be called.

“Living Kardashian, Krazy Kardashians,” Farnaz Farjam, current programming vice president at Bunim/Murray, remembered.

“But none that we loved. We were having our big launch meeting where we invite the producers to come in and tell our internal departments about the show, so everyone can get on the same page,” Damla Dogan, senior vice president of development and programming at E!, added.

“We all had been tasked to come to the meeting with some title ideas and when it was my turn I had to confess I didn’t have a list,” Farjam admitted. “I made a factual statement that I was ‘too busy keeping up with the Kardashians.'”

  1. The bathroom was a sanctuary.

Kourtney Kardashian figured out a place she could get privacy as the family adjusted their lives while being in front of the camera.

“I remember in season one being like, ‘I have to go the bathroom,’ and I’d cry in there as quietly as I could because I was still mic’d. I never want to cry in front of cameras,” she shared.

  1. Kris Jenner edit some scenes if she doesn’t look good.

“I’m not going to lie, there’s been times when I’ve walked away from the camera and I’ve got a big bump in my hair and I’m like, ‘Take that out, my hair looks like s*t,'” she shared. “I’m too vain to leave really ugly, ugly angles in.”

  1. Lamar Odom wanted to have a reality TV.

Khloe and her ex-husband’s spinoff show Khloe & Lamar, which aired for two seasons, wasn’t originally in the plan for the Kardashian sister.

“I never wanted to do Khloe & Lamar; my ex-husband did. He sold it to E!, and I let it happen because I wanted him to be happy,” she revealed. “I was the one who canceled it. It was way too much.”

  1. Kourtney Kardashian said her breakup was the hardest episode to film.

“The hardest episode to film was my break-up with Scott [Disick]. I had a lot of anxiety about it, and finally said let’s just get this over with,” she said. “I sat down and started crying. You go through something, and then you move past it. Then you do your interview, and get all riled up again. And then you see the episode, and start seeing all these comments [on social media].”

  1. Ryan Seacrest advised Kim to use Twitter.

Kim is one of the most followed celebrities on Twitter with almost 55 million followers and counting. But there was a time when social media was all foreign to Kim and her family.

“There was barely Twitter when we started,” Kris revealed. “Ryan called Kim and said, ‘There’s this thing called Twitter you might want to pay attention to.’ The girls [began] embracing their audience and sharing their lives.”

“There were conversations where we said, ‘Is this OK that posts are happening today and the show airs five months later?'” Seacrest recalled. “We didn’t know if it was good or bad. We ended up determining that it was fueling the narrative and people will want to see what really happened.”

  1. Kim Kardashian thought at first that her anxiety about her marriage to Kris Humphries stemmed from the show.

The 36-year-old reality star was married to the NBA player for 72 days and their wedding ceremony was aired in an E! special. Kim initially thought her anxiety was stemming from filming the show.

“There was all this attention on the wedding, and I thought maybe it was just the pressure of the show giving me this anxiety. My friends told me I just had cold feet, but even the producers said, ‘You don’t seem happy. You don’t have to go through with this,'” she shared.

“The night before, my mom pulled me aside, off camera, and was like, ‘This isn’t it for you. Why don’t you go away and I’ll handle it?’ I felt like, if I pulled out now, everyone’s going to think I just did it for the show. Then afterwards, people were saying, “You have to stay married for a year,” but I physically couldn’t do it. When I made the decision [to divorce], everyone said it was made up for the show. Everyone really wanted to take me down.”

  1. Kim said she hoped she hadn’t filmed as much during her pregnancy.

“I looked like such a cow and I can’t stand to see those episodes,” the famous mother of two admitted. “I would say, ‘Try to film me more from chest up, so it looks better,’ but I look like a blob. I would have rather seen my belly and shot farther away.”

When asked about children, the TV personality did not confirm nor deny a third baby on the way. “I hope so. There have been a lot of things said and Kanye [West] and I have not confirmed anything,” she shared. “We’re definitely trying. We are hoping so.”

Keeping Up With The Kardashians 10th year Anniversary Special airs on Sept. 24, Sunday 9 p.m. on E!
