The race between “Birds of a Feather” and “Espresso” was impossible to call until the very last minute, but Eilish eventually came out victorious. She took the top spot on the last day of the year, crossing 1,775,000,000 streams and defeating “Espresso” by just 650,000 streams, according to Chart Data.
“Birds of a Feather” was released as the second single from Eilish’s third studio album Hit Me Hard and Soft. It will enter this year’s Grammy Awards with three nods – song of the year, record of the year, and best pop solo performance – while the album itself is in the running for album of the year and best pop vocal album.
Despite topping Spotify’s list of most-streamed songs of 2024, both “Birds of a Feather” and “Espresso” failed to hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart this year. “Birds of a Feather” peaked at No. 2 behind Shaboozey’s record-breaking hit “A Bar Song (Tipsy)”, while “Espresso” took the No. 3 spot behind Carpenter’s own “Please Please Please”, her first No. 1 single in the US.
26.6 billion global streams pushed Swift to the top of Spotify’s list of the most-streamed artists of the year for a second year in a row. Her latest album The Tortured Poets Department was named the most-streamed album of the year on the list of the most-streamed albums, where female artists made history, occupying the first eight spots.
It’s also been a huge year for The Weeknd, Bad Bunny, Drake, and Billie Eilish, who managed to make it to the list of the most-streamed artists behind Swift. Eilish also scored the year’s second with Hit Me Hard and Soft, ahead of Short n’ Sweet by Sabrina Carpenter, Mañana Será Bonito by Karol G, and Eternal Sunshine by Ariana Grande.
As for the list of the most-streamed songs, it was Sabrina Carpenter’s moment to shine in the spotlight. She led the way with her smash hit “Espresso”, beating the tough competition in “Beautiful Things” by Benson Boone, “Birds of a Feather” by Billie Eilish, “Gata Only” by FloyyMenor and Cris MJ, and “Lose Control” by Teddy Swims.

Despite holding the record for most Grammys ever won with 32 awards, Beyoncé was never honored with the coveted album of the year trophy. She’ll get another chance to right that wrong next year with Cowboy Carter, competing against the likes of Taylor Swift, Sabrina Carpenter, Chappell Roan, and Billie Eilish.
Beyoncé is also vying for song and record of the year with her hit single “Texas Hold ‘Em”. The list of contenders in both categories also includes “Birds of a Feather” by Billie Eilish, “Fortnight” by Taylor Swift and Post Malone, “Good Luck Babe” by Chappell Roan, “Not Like Us” by Kendrick Lamar.
Chappell Roan and Sabrina Carpenter are the only artists nominated for the “big four” Grammys. In addition to scoring a nod for album, song, and record of the year, they’re also contenders for the best new artist award alongside Benson Boone, Raye, Shaboozey, and more.

Directed by Dave Meyers, the cheeky visual shows Carpenter and Ortega literally fighting for the attention of the same guy. They use all sorts of different weapons, from machetes and shotguns to voodoo dolls and chainsaws, but the video eventually ends with the two women attending their ex’s funeral and burying their feud along with him.
Death Becomes Her starring Meryl Streep and Goldie Hawn was the clear source of inspiration for this music video, but cinematic references are sprinkled throughout. “Taste” also pays homage to Psycho, Addams Family Values, Ginger Snaps, and Kill Bill through its murder scenes and costume choices.
“Taste” was released as the third single from Carpenter’s sixth studio album Short n’ Sweet, which hit the shelves on August 23. Its release was preceded by two hit singles – “Espresso”, which became the singer’s first song to reach 1 billion streams on Spotify, and “Please Please Please”, her first No. 1 single on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
Carpenter took to social media to announce her new album is on the way, writing “This project is quite special to me and I hope it’ll be something special to you too.” She revealed her next LP will be titled Short n’ Sweet, shortly after teasing it with a series of billboards referencing her height.
“Nonsense” singer also revealed her new album will be released on August 23 via Island Records, and we won’t have to wait for long to hear more of it. Carpenter said we should keep an eye out for a special surprise coming our way on Thursday night, most likely her next single.
Carpenter created a lot of hype for Short n’ Sweet with its lead single “Espresso”, which became a viral sensation since hitting the shelves in April. It topped the charts in several countries, and became her biggest Billboard Hot 100 hit so far at No. 4.

The race between “Birds of a Feather” and “Espresso” was impossible to call until the very last minute, but Eilish eventually came out victorious. She took the top spot on the last day of the year, crossing 1,775,000,000 streams and defeating “Espresso” by just 650,000 streams, according to Chart Data.
“Birds of a Feather” was released as the second single from Eilish’s third studio album Hit Me Hard and Soft. It will enter this year’s Grammy Awards with three nods – song of the year, record of the year, and best pop solo performance – while the album itself is in the running for album of the year and best pop vocal album.
Despite topping Spotify’s list of most-streamed songs of 2024, both “Birds of a Feather” and “Espresso” failed to hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart this year. “Birds of a Feather” peaked at No. 2 behind Shaboozey’s record-breaking hit “A Bar Song (Tipsy)”, while “Espresso” took the No. 3 spot behind Carpenter’s own “Please Please Please”, her first No. 1 single in the US.
26.6 billion global streams pushed Swift to the top of Spotify’s list of the most-streamed artists of the year for a second year in a row. Her latest album The Tortured Poets Department was named the most-streamed album of the year on the list of the most-streamed albums, where female artists made history, occupying the first eight spots.
It’s also been a huge year for The Weeknd, Bad Bunny, Drake, and Billie Eilish, who managed to make it to the list of the most-streamed artists behind Swift. Eilish also scored the year’s second with Hit Me Hard and Soft, ahead of Short n’ Sweet by Sabrina Carpenter, Mañana Será Bonito by Karol G, and Eternal Sunshine by Ariana Grande.
As for the list of the most-streamed songs, it was Sabrina Carpenter’s moment to shine in the spotlight. She led the way with her smash hit “Espresso”, beating the tough competition in “Beautiful Things” by Benson Boone, “Birds of a Feather” by Billie Eilish, “Gata Only” by FloyyMenor and Cris MJ, and “Lose Control” by Teddy Swims.

Despite holding the record for most Grammys ever won with 32 awards, Beyoncé was never honored with the coveted album of the year trophy. She’ll get another chance to right that wrong next year with Cowboy Carter, competing against the likes of Taylor Swift, Sabrina Carpenter, Chappell Roan, and Billie Eilish.
Beyoncé is also vying for song and record of the year with her hit single “Texas Hold ‘Em”. The list of contenders in both categories also includes “Birds of a Feather” by Billie Eilish, “Fortnight” by Taylor Swift and Post Malone, “Good Luck Babe” by Chappell Roan, “Not Like Us” by Kendrick Lamar.

Directed by Dave Meyers, the cheeky visual shows Carpenter and Ortega literally fighting for the attention of the same guy. They use all sorts of different weapons, from machetes and shotguns to voodoo dolls and chainsaws, but the video eventually ends with the two women attending their ex’s funeral and burying their feud along with him.
Death Becomes Her starring Meryl Streep and Goldie Hawn was the clear source of inspiration for this music video, but cinematic references are sprinkled throughout. “Taste” also pays homage to Psycho, Addams Family Values, Ginger Snaps, and Kill Bill through its murder scenes and costume choices.
“Taste” was released as the third single from Carpenter’s sixth studio album Short n’ Sweet, which hit the shelves on August 23. Its release was preceded by two hit singles – “Espresso”, which became the singer’s first song to reach 1 billion streams on Spotify, and “Please Please Please”, her first No. 1 single on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
Carpenter took to social media to announce her new album is on the way, writing “This project is quite special to me and I hope it’ll be something special to you too.” She revealed her next LP will be titled Short n’ Sweet, shortly after teasing it with a series of billboards referencing her height.
“Nonsense” singer also revealed her new album will be released on August 23 via Island Records, and we won’t have to wait for long to hear more of it. Carpenter said we should keep an eye out for a special surprise coming our way on Thursday night, most likely her next single.
Carpenter created a lot of hype for Short n’ Sweet with its lead single “Espresso”, which became a viral sensation since hitting the shelves in April. It topped the charts in several countries, and became her biggest Billboard Hot 100 hit so far at No. 4.
