Netflix kept us on the edge of our seats with this Spanish crime drama about a group of robbers trying to pull off a heist of a lifetime, and their last hurrah was a joy to watch.
Shameless has been around for an entire decade, but all good things must come to an end. Its season finale premiered this spring and allowed us to say goodbye to the Gallagher family.
Beth, Ruby, and Annie have been a long way since trying to rob their local supermarket. The final season of Good Girls showed them trying to get out of the twisted web they’ve created for one last time.
Issa Rae has been on quite a journey since the beginning of Insecure, and the final season shows her trying to take control of her personal and professional life and figure out what she really wants.

]]>Monaghan announced his departure on Instagram: “I have been a series regular on this show for roughly ten years. I was the tender age of fifteen when we shot the pilot, and I came of age in so many ways, both legally and personally,” the 25-year-old actor wrote.
“I was very lucky to mature and grow with this show. Experiencing so many firsts, maturing as an actor, a professional, and a human. In the process gaining friends, family, and the best coworkers a very lucky actor could ask for, and for this I can be nothing but gracious. All good things come to an end. “
According to Cameron Monaghan, he knew about the exit since last year but didn’t want to spoil his character’s storyline for the fans.
Shameless is halfway through season nine with episode six, which will be last for Monaghan on the show, set to air on October 14th.

]]>Rossum said her goodbyes in a touching Facebook post and used it as an opportunity to express her gratitude to the cast and crew of this “wonderfully written, wonderfully layered show.” She expressed her undying love for the character she’s been portraying all these years and described her as resourceful, loyal, fierce, and flawed. Rossum mentioned the last eight years have been the best of her life, but it’s time to let go.
“I know you will continue on without me, for now. There is much more Gallagher story to be told. I will always be rooting for my family. Try not to think of me as gone, just think of me as moving down the block,” she wrote.
Her exit came as a surprise to fans, but her on-screen dad William H. Macy said he was expecting it. He supports Rossum’s decision to branch out and try new things, and so does Showtime’s head of programming, Gary Levine.
“We were saddened when Emmy Rossum let us know that the upcoming ninth season of Shameless would be her last. But we are filled with an overwhelming sense of joy and gratitude for Emmy’s inspired work on our series… On behalf of everyone at Showtime and her millions of fans, we thank you Emmy!” said Levine.

]]>The series’ ninth season is an expanded order and includes 14 episodes which will air in two parts — fall and winter 2019.
The upcoming season will see Sagal, best known for her role on Married With Children star as Ingrid, a psych patient who catches Frank’s (William H. Macy) eye. Meanwhile, Cox, the Friend’s alum will play Jen Wagner, a famous actress who hires fellow recovering alcoholic Lip (Jeremy Allen White) to be her sober companion and then takes him on an epic search for a cocktail.
The first part returns September 9 and the second will include Shameless’ landmark 100th episode.

]]>Just days after the show’s 8th season premiere, Showtime president and CEO David Nevin officially confirmed on Wednesday that the network has renewed Shameless for a 9th season.
This decision seems more than common sense as the show’s season 8 premiere was its highest-rated debut for the dysfunctional Gallaghers since the season 3 opener.
“We are so grateful to Showtime for giving us the opportunity to continue making Shameless,” said series executive producer and show-runner John Wells in a statement. “It’s a labor of love (and a blast) for all of us.”
Nevin added that while the network recognized the difficulties in retaining viewers in the current TV landscape, “Shameless is adding them in droves. But it’s no mystery why. The series’ reputation for rich and resonant characters and for deep and deeply twisted comedy has drawn not only faithful longtime viewers, but a steadily growing audience. And creatively, the season that kicked off this past Sunday is stronger than ever.”
Production on season 9 is scheduled to commence in 2018, however, there has been no word yet on whether the 9th season will be the show’s final installment.
