The streaming giant confirmed Tuesday that Rhimes’ forthcoming project — an anthology titled Notes on Love.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the individual episodic series will explore the “unexpected-life-changing, euphoric, hilarious, surreal and all-consuming places where love intersects in everyone’s lives.”

The first season of Notes on Love will focus on marriage with each episode hailing from a different writer. Rhimes will produce alongside Shondaland partner Betsy Beers. Steve Martin and Diane Warren are on board as a writer and executive produce.

Notes on Love is part of Rhimes’ $100 million overall deal with Netflix.

The mega-producer is adapting the infamous story of Anna Delvey, to the little screen. Shonsaland and the streaming giant have acquired the rights to the New York Magazine article, “How Anna Delvey Tricked New York’s Party People” by Jessica Pressler. Rhimes herself will pen the script. 

Delvey posed as a wealthy German heiress who made her way into NYC’s social elite. She even managed to con people to fund her lavish lifestyle. She is currently being held without bond in Rikers Island prison. 

This will serve as Rhimes’ first project as part of her multi-year deal with Netflix. The move from ABC to the streaming giant was announced in August 2017. News of Shondaland’s exit after 15 years from ABC, where she launched serious hits like Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal, How to Get Away With Murder and Private Practice rocked the TV world. 

At the time Rhimes said in a statement, “Shondaland’s move to Netflix is the result of a shared plan Ted Sarandos and I built based on my vision for myself as a storyteller and for the evolution of my company. Ted provides a clear, fearless space for creators at Netflix. He understood what I was looking for—the opportunity to build a vibrant new storytelling home for writers with the unique creative freedom and instantaneous global reach provided by Netflix’s singular sense of innovation.”

Jessica Capshaw who plays Dr. Arizona Robbins and Sarah Drew who plays Dr. April Kepner will exit Grey’s Anatomy at the end of the current fourteenth season. The two have been series regulars for 10 and 8 seasons respectively.

Executive producer and co-showrunner Krista Vernoff said in a statement that the decision was based solely on a creative decision.

“The characters of Arizona and April are permanently woven into the fabric of Grey’s Anatomy thanks to the extraordinary work of Jessica Capshaw and Sarah Drew. As writers, our job is to follow the stories where they want to go and sometimes that means saying goodbye to characters we love. It has been a joy and a privilege to work with these phenomenally talented actresses.”

Creator Shonda Rhimes said, “It’s always hard for me to say goodbye to any of my characters. Both Arizona Robbins and April Kepner are not only beloved but iconic — both the LBGTQ and devout Christian communities are underrepresented on TV. I will be forever grateful to both Jessica and Sarah for bringing these characters to life with such vibrant performance and for inspiring women around the globe. They will always be a part of our Shondaland family.”

There has been growing speculations that this decision did in some way have to do with the star of the show, Ellen Pompeo, renegotiating a new deal, that gave her a significant salary increase, paying her as much as $20 million a year.

Ellen Pompeo will continue scrubbing in as Meredith in ABC’s hit medical drama, should the network renew the Shondaland creation.

Pompeo’s decision to extend her contract for two more seasons comes with additional responsibilities, serving as a producer, beginning midway through the current season. She will also co-executive produce an upcoming untitled Grey’s Anatomy spinoff.

According to Deadline and The Hollywood Reporter, Pompeo will make a whopping salary of $550,000 per episode. This will make her the highest paid actress on television.

Though this doesn’t mean that the series will end after season 16, it doesn’t seem like Pompeo isn’t looking for new and exciting acting gigs, but rather has her eye on roles behind the camera.

“Producing and directing is where I’m challenged and where I’m learning,” Pompeo told Deadline. ”Acting, I don’t know. If the right role comes along, and it’s interesting, then never say never, but I do have three kids. I don’t necessarily want to travel around. I wouldn’t say it’s my burning desire to go act in something else.”

Even though it has yet to receive an official pick-up beyond its current 14th season, if it will run though to season 16, Grey’s Anatomy, that currently ranks third for ABC in total audience, would officially beat ER for the title of longest-running medical drama on TV.

Creator Shonda Rhimes confirmed the crossover on social media on Wednesday. She tweeted, ” People. It’s happening. @petenowalk, you ready for this? #TGITCrossover #HowtoGetAwaywithScandal. She even added a photo of the script page showing Pope and Keating meeting for the first time.

Kerry Washington and Viola Davies joined the crossover frenzy both taking to Instagram.  Washington posts a pic of herself sitting on a bench in the courthouse set of HTGAWM. She added the caption, “Hey Ms @violadavis check it out. This spot look familiar?! Where are you?” Shortly after, Davis posted a pic of herself in front of Mellie’s desk on Scandal‘s Oval Office set. “Hey @KerryWashington, guess where I am?!” she captioned the snap.

With Shondaland programming returning January 18, the crossover is expected to happen around March.

It was all about love for Lowes over the weekend. The 35-year-old TV star had a baby shower in Au Fudge in L.A on Saturday. A day after the event, Washington uploaded a picture of the two and added a heart-felt caption: “You are all light and love. What a blessed bundle! Thank you for allowing us to love you and celebrate you this weekend. I will never forget all the love in that room! I’m so excited for you. And always here for you. Xo.”

During an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! in May, Lowes who plays Quinn Perkins, announced her pregnancy. This will be the first child for her and husband Adam Shapiro.

The real life pregnancy will be worked into the show’s last season. Lowes told E! that creator Shonda Rhimes was the first person on set to learn of the pregnancy, adding that she basically figured it out herself the minute she got pregnant.

Scandal’s seventh and final season will premiere October 5.
