The Sun reported that Geri Horner (Ginger Spice), Melanie C (Sport Spice), Mel B (Scary Spice), and Emma Bunton (Baby Spice) have approached a screenwriter about the sequel.

“The girls have been talking about how to mark the film’s anniversary and are actively considering making a tongue-in-cheek sequel. They have approached a screenwriter who is considering working on the project and making tentative steps forward. It is still in the early stages but they are talking to established names in the business, which proves they are taking a big screen comeback seriously,” a source told the outlet.

The Spice Girls have reunited on several occasions including the 2012 Olympics opening ceremony and a 13-date tour across the UK and Ireland in 2019. Victoria Beckham (Posh Spice) wasn’t part of the tour. The project will mark the group’s 25th anniversary next year.

Richard E. Grant, Meat Loaf, Sir Elton John, and the band starred in the original film.

Dan Wootton of The Sun has shared the first image of the reunited girl group including Mel B (Scary Spice), Emma Bunton (Baby Spice), Mel C (Sporty Spice), and Geri Halliwell (Ginger Spice) but sans Victoria Beckham (Posh Spice) confirming that the Spice Girls are back and ready to spice up our lives. 

After years of rumors and speculations, fans can’t contain their excitement following the news that the girls are reuniting for a massive summer stadium tour.

Ahead of the official announcement, Mel B revealed the news of a reunion during her appearance on Loose Women on Monday.

“[We’ve known for] like five, six months now, it’s all, the wheels are in motion, tickets go on sale on Friday. Pressure is on now, hopefully, you’re going to buy some tickets,” she said. She also addresses the fact that Beckham won’t be joining the group saying, “It’s just the four of us, but she might join us at some point. I hope so. I think it would be a shame if she didn’t. I don’t know why [she said no]. She’s got a full on life with her commitments and the fashion line and her kids so she’s not committing just yet. I’m hoping it’ll change.”

The last time the group reunited was in 2012 for the closing ceremony of the London Olympics and first teased a reunion in 2016 for the 20th anniversary of their first hit, “Wannabe.”

Dates and locations will be announced later this week.

Posh Spice has gone on record telling the world that she and the rest of the gang will definitely not be hitting the road anytime soon.

During a preview of her autumn/winter 2018 collection, she said to Vogue, “I’m not going on tour. The girls aren’t going on tour.” Fans worldwide went crazy after Mel C, Mel B, Emma Bunton, Geri Halliwell, and Beckham met up for lunch in London, after which they released this statement:

“We have enjoyed a wonderful afternoon catching-up and reminiscing about the amazing times we have spent together. We are always overwhelmed at how much interest there is across the whole world for The Spice Girls. The time now feels right to explore some incredible new opportunities together. We all agree that there are many exciting possibilities that will once again embrace the original essence of The Spice Girls, while reinforcing our message of female empowerment for future generations.”

While a tour was ruled out by Posh, it remains to be seen what “new opportunities” actually means for the Spice Girls.

EW confirmed via Beckham’s publicist, that the so called innocent Spice Girls get together in London on Friday was in fact a: “wonderful afternoon catching up and reminiscing about the amazing times [they] have spent together.” Victoria Beckham, Emma Bunton, Geri Halliwell, Mel B, and Melanie C feel that it is the right time to “explore some incredible new opportunities together.”

With no confirmation yet as to what these new opportunities might be, the group did say that they are all in agreement that “there are many exciting possibilities that will once again embrace the original essence of the Spice Girls, while reinforcing our message of female empowerment for future generations.”

The possible collaboration was hinted by The Sun that reported ahead of the ladies taking to social media, sharing their get together with fans, that a “secret meeting” was planned for the Spice Girls and manager Simon Fuller to discuss “TV projects in China, a new telly talent show, endorsement deals, and a compilation album celebrating their greatest hits.”

The singer took to Instagram and shared photos of her niece Thalia dressed up like none other than Scary Spice. Thalia opted for one of her aunt’s most iconic ensembles, a lime green tank top and dark pants, channeling Mel’s look from the Spice Girls’ iconic debut 1996 music video “Wannabe.”

In another pic, Tillie is in a gold bodysuit and poses with Mel, who is wearing the gold and nude bodysuit she wore at the 2012 Olympics Closing Ceremony, where she took part in the Spice Girls’ last performance as a quartet.
