CBS All Access has found its Spock.

After extensive searches, Ethan Peck will portray the iconic Star Trek character.

Peck, whose acting credits include Madame Secretary, Gossip Girl, 10 Things I Hate About You, and That ’70s Show will to take on the role of the half-human half Vulcan alien for Star Trek: Discovery’s sophomore run.

“Through 52 years of television and film, a parallel universe and a mirror universe, Mr. Spock remains the only member of the original bridge crew to span every era of Star Trek,” says showrunner Alex Kurtzman. “The great Leonard Nimoy, then the brilliant Zachary Quinto, brought incomparable humanity to a character forever torn between logic and emotion. We searched for months for an actor who would, like them, bring his own interpretation to the role. An actor who would, like them, effortlessly embody Spock’s greatest qualities, beyond obvious logic: empathy, intuition, compassion, confusion, and yearning. Ethan Peck walked into the room inhabiting all of these qualities, aware of his daunting responsibility to Leonard, Zack, and the fans, and ready to confront the challenge in the service of protecting and expanding on Spock’s legacy. In that spirit, we’re thrilled to welcome him to the family.”

Speculations on who would be cast as Spock were kicked into high gear after season one finale cliffhanger revealed the USS Enterprise, the ship that would eventually be captained by James T. Kirk and where Spock serves.

Peck took to social media and shared a picture of himself saluting in Vulcan style and wrote, “Beyond all logic, beyond what I thought was possible, I find myself in this reality. It is with great honor and a sense of immense responsibility that I take on the iconic role that Leonard gave to us and that Zachary did brilliant justice to. Thank you Adam Nimoy, Julie Nimoy, Terry Farrell and David Knight for your open arms, warm welcome, smiling curiosity, support, for making me feel worthy, as I embrace and take into my heart the half alien we know as Mr. Spock. 🖖🏼

Star Trek: Discovery will premiere in early 2019.

The first Star Trek: Discovery episode which aired on the new CBS streaming service, “CBS All Access”, and got nearly 10 million viewers, which is significantly more than expected. The mystery and buzz created around it definitely added up to the total number of viewers.

CBS estimates the total number of viewers to reach 15 million after a week passes thanks to all delayed viewing.

The TV network hopes Discovery will raise interest for their “All Access.” CBS Interactive president Marc DeBevoise recently spoke about it: “Try it; All Access is free to try and if you don’t think it’s worth the value, we get it. It’s not going to be for everybody. We know some of our customers are going to be cord cutters, some are going to be people who want CBS another way and some just want the premium content we’re offering. Also, it’s not like we’re price gouging here. I think it’s a reasonable price for the value we’re delivering. It’s not just what you get on CBS, it is 10,000 episodes of content plus live TV. We have to show people the value of the service, and I think we will.”
