The Scandal star has joined the star-studded cast of The Prom, an adaptation of the Tony-nominated Broadway musical.
She joins the previously announced Meryl Streep, Nicole Kidman, Awkwafina, James Corden, Ariana Grande, Keegan-Michael Key, and Andrew Rannells.
The Prom centers on four-down-and-out Broadway actors who head to Indiana to help a gay teen whose prom was canceled when she tried to bring her girlfriend as her date. Streep, Kidman, Corden, and Rannells will star as the four actors. Washington’s role has not yet been revealed.
Murphy will direct from a script by Bob Martin and Chad Beguelin.
