In addition to playing the lead, The Rock will also produce The King through Seven Bucks Productions. Johnson and his partners Dany and Hiram Garcia were the ones responsible for getting this project off the ground. They recruited Randall Wallace (Braveheart) to write the script, while The Rock was still in Hawaii filming Jumanji.

It’s not a coincidence that the Fast & Furious star was the one who landed this role. He wanted to portray this Hawaiian ruler since the early days of his acting career. The Rock believed that bringing Kamehameha’s story to life would be a good way to honor his Hawaiian heritage.

“Not only does Dwayne have a great personality and talent, but he also does a great amount of philanthropic work, which is part of the criteria for earning an immortal spot on the Walk of Fame,” producer of the Walk of Fame ceremonies Ana Martinez said in the announcement posted by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce.

“Everyone loves Dwayne Johnson! We predict that his star will be a very popular one to visit on our famous walk,” she added.

The ceremony will start 11:30 a.m. PT at 6801 Hollywood Blvd., in front of the Hollywood and Highland complex, on Dec. 13.

According to Forbes, “The Rock” was the world’s highest earning actor of 2016 and the second-highest earning actor this year, having netted $65 million. His movies have grossed almost $3 billion at the box office.

Johnson was born in San Francisco and raised in Hawaii. He was a college football player for the University of Miami, where he won a national championship on 1991 Miami Hurricanes team. After graduation, he began training for a career in professional wrestling WWE, where he introduced his ring name, “The Rock.” He is now widely regarded as one of the greatest professional wrestlers of all time.

The Jumanji star wrote an autobiography in 2000 titled “The Rock Says,” and he established The Rock Foundation in 2006 which aims to enrich the lives of terminally ill children and empower them through physical fitness programs and nutrition initiatives.
