The film grossed $521 million domestically and is expected to cross $500 million this weekend internationally.
With the film being such a huge success, rumors of a possible sequel are already are already circulating. EW spoke with Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige who said that while he has “nothing specific to reveal,” he can say that “we absolutely will do that.”
“One of the favorite pastimes at Marvel Studios is sitting around on a Part One and talking and dreaming about what we would do in a Part Two,” he continued. “There have been plenty of those conversations as we were putting together the first Black Panther. We have ideas and a pretty solid direction on where we want to head with the second one.”
Black Panther, a true cultural phenomenon, is expected to surpass The Dark Knight ($535 million) as the second highest-grossing superhero film of all time in the US by the end of the weekend.

]]>According to estimates, the Disney-Lucasfilm’s most recent installment of the Star Wars franchise is also going to reach the amazing milestone of $110 million in North America over Christmas weekend.
Disney topped the $5 billion mark worldwide on November 30 with Thor: Ragnarok. That made the studio the first ever to have reached this threshold for three consecutive years.
Its final release of 2017 — Star Wars: The Last Jedi, opened globally on December 15. The ninth Star Wars movie debuted with a $220 million opening weekend domestically. At the worldwide box office the film as already grossed $610.5 million in its first week.
There’s no doubt 2017 has been a good year for Disney when it comes to hitting outstanding box office records. Now that it acquired 21st Century Fox for a whopping $52.4 billion is seems that Disney will be an undisputed contender grossing big numbers in future box office.
