The Last of Us will return for its long-awaited second season in just a few days, and we already know there’s more on the way. HBO renewed the hit post-apocalyptic series for Season 3 just days ahead of the Season 2 premiere.

Based on the hit video game of the same name, The Last of Us follows the adventures of a hardened survivor who must traverse across the post-apocalyptic United States after being entrusted with the task of smuggling a young girl out of a quarantine zone.

Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey lead the cast of this hit series, and they’ll be joined by Gabriel Luna, Kaitlyn Dever, Isabela Merced, Young Mazino, Ariela Barer, Tati Gabrielle, Spencer Lord, Danny Ramirez, Jeffrey Wright, Catherine O’Hara, Joe Pantoliano, Alanna Ubach, Ben Ahlers, Hettienne Park, Robert John Burke, and Noah Lamanna in Season 2.

Craig Mazin, who co-created this series for HBO alongside Neil Druckmann, confirmed its renewal ahead of the Season 2 premiere.

“We approached Season 2 with the goal of creating something we could be proud of. The end results have exceeded even our most ambitious goals, thanks to our continued collaboration with HBO and the impeccable work of our unparalleled cast and crew,” said Mazin in a statement.

Season 2 will premiere on HBO on April 13, and it will feature seven episodes airing weekly.
