Now this is what you call a successful revival!
The return of the acclaimed sitcom Will & Grace could not have gone better it seems as NBC announced that it has been picked up for a third season. The news was confirmed by the network’s chairman Robert Greenblatt at the show’s PaleyFest panel in Los Angeles on Saturday.
The show went off the air in 2006 only to make its comeback over a decade later in September 2017. The first season will come to an end on April 5, enjoys good ratings averaging a 3.1 rating among adults 18-49 and 9.8 million viewers.
“As far as I’m concerned, we can’t get enough of Will & Grace and 23 more episodes is music to my ears,” Greenblatt said. “We’re eternally grateful that Debra [Messing], Eric [McCormack], Sean [Hayes] and Megan [Mullaly] feel the same way and wanted to keep this good thing going. I’m overwhelmed by the euphoric response the new show has received from the press and the audience, and my hat is off to the unrivaled writing team of Max Mutchnick and David Kohan, as well as the brilliant directing of Jimmy Burrows, for consistently delivering one of the best shows on television.”
The second season was ordered before Season 1 even aired due to the hype and anticipation of a revival. Season 2 will feature 18 episodes, up from 16 this year and will premiere in the fall.
