Horror-Comedy Stan Against Evil Canceled at IFC

The fans of IFC’s horror-comedy Stan Against Evil received some tough news recently. The network announced that the John C. McGinley-starred series is being canceled and that season three, which wrapped up in November, will also be its last.

Stan Against Evil starred McGinley as Stan Miller, a retired sheriff of a small town in New England, who needs to join forces with the new sheriff (played by Janet Varney) in order to protect their community from the supernatural.

The news about the cancelation was confirmed by the series’ creator Dana Gould.

“Stan Against Evil, I am sad to report, will not be returning for a fourth season,” said Gould in a statement. “It had a great run of three seasons. It’s not coming back. Will it show up in some other form on some other network someday? Maybe. But right now, as we like to say, it’s dead as Kelsey’s nuts.”

Premiering in 2016, Stan Against Evil was met with generally positive reviews from the critics, who called it “light, gruesome horror-comedy with a fun premise,” but never managed to achieve particular rating breakthrough averaging around 150.000 viewers per episode during its run. It did, however, managed to often double its original viewership numbers thanks to DVR.
