Jackie Chan’s latest role caused a lot of criticism as he is apparently playing a Vietnamese character. However, his rep has later explained that his character in the movie is actually Chinese.
Why the confusion?
The Foreigner, the upcoming film base on a novel The Chinaman, is a story about a Vietnamese immigrant living in London, looking for vengeance after his daughter is killed in a terrorist attack. Except, as the rep explained, the movie script has been changed in a way that Chan’s character is actually Chinese, not Vietnamese.
Chan will star in The Foreigner along with Pierce Brosnan. The USA premiere is set for October 13, 2017.
