Mark Wahlberg’s “Six Billion Dollar Man” Moved To 2020

Fans of the sci-fi TV show, you now have a to wait longer for the big-screen adaptation.

Warner Bros. announced that the release date for Mark Wahlberg’s film The Six Billion Dollar Man has been pushed back, a whole year. The sci-fi action flick now has a release date of June 5, 2020, instead of May 31, 2019.

The Six Billion Dollar Man is based on the sci-fi TV series of the same name which was based on Martin Caidin’s novel Cyborg. The series ran for five seasons on ABC in the ’70s and followed former astronaut, Colonel Steve with bionic implants and superhuman strength.

This is the project’s first set back. Just two weeks ago it was announced that director Damian Szifron (Wild Tales) exited the project. The film was originally developed by the Weinstein Company with Szifron, with rights for the project brought by the studio late last year.

Filling the slot vacated by The Six Billion Dollar Man is Godzilla 2, pushed back two months from March 22. Warner Bros. also moved the release of Crazy Rich Asians forward by two days to August 15 and set a 2020 release date for Doctor Sleep.

Warner Bros. is still looking for a replacement for Szifron.
