]]>Jury president Alejandro González Iñárritu was in charge of announcing their choice for Palme d’Or. The jury was fascinated by this film from the very first moment they saw it.
“We all shared the mystery of the unexpected way this film took us through different genres and spoke in a funny, humorous, tender way – with no judgment – of something so relevant and urgent, so global in such a local film, with such a beautiful efficiency of media, and an understanding of what film really is,” explained Iñárritu after presenting the award to Joon-ho Bong.
The list of notable winners also includes Emily Beecham (Little Joe) and Antonio Banderas (Pain and Glory), who came out victorious in acting categories. Atlantics by Mati Diop won Grand Prix, while Bacurau and Les Misérables shared the jury prize.

Kelly Reichardt – American filmmaker, whose filmography includes Wendy and Lucy and Certain Women
Alice Rohrwacher – Italian filmmaker, winner of Grand Prix in Cannes for 2014 film The Wonders

]]>Iñárritu’s relationship with this renowned festival goes all the way back to 2000 when his first feature-length film, Amores Perros, premiered in Cannes. The celebrated director said he’s humbled and thrilled to return to the French city and assume the immense honor of presiding over the jury.
“We on the jury will have the privilege to witness the new and excellent work of fellow filmmakers from all over the planet. This is a true delight and a responsibility, that we will assume with passion and devotion,” explained Iñárritu.
The festival’s president Pierre Lescure said he was delighted after four-time Oscar winner accepted his invitation to head the jury. We can’t wait to see who else will join him when
