]]>Phoenix will reunite with Aster on this mystery project, after previously leading his previous film Beau Is Afraid. Not much is known about their next collaboration, but it’s been rumored it will be a Western about a small-town sheriff with high expectations. It’s safe to expect it will explore the dark side of the human psyche, like all of Aster’s previous films.
In addition to Phoenix, this film will also star the Emmy nominee Pedro Pascal (The Last of Us), the recent Oscar winner Emma Stone (Poor Things), and Oscar nominee Austin Butler (Dune: Part Two).
They’ll also be joined by Luke Grimes (Yellowstone), Deirdre O’Connell (Outer Range), Micheal Ward (Top Boy), and Clifton Collins Jr. (Jockey) in supporting roles.
Eddington will mark Aster’s fourth collaboration with A24, following the success of his horror films Hereditary and Midsommar and last year’s tragicomedy Beau Is Afraid. In addition to writing and directing this film, he’ll also produce it alongside Lars Knudsen under their Square Peg banner.

The studio announced the news just three weeks after casting Austin Butler to portray The King.
The still-untitled project will “delve into [Elvis and his manager’s] complex dynamic spanning over 20 years, from Presley’s rise to fame to his unprecedented stardom, against the backdrop of the evolving cultural landscape and the loss of innocence in America,” per the studio’s official description.

]]>The star of TV shows Switched at Birth, Ruby & The Rockits and The Carrie Diaries managed to beat the likes of Harry Styles and Ansel Elgort and convinced Luhrmann he’s the right person for the job.
“I knew I couldn’t make this film if the casting wasn’t absolutely right, and we searched thoroughly for an actor with the ability to evoke the singular natural movement and vocal qualities of this peerless star, but also the inner vulnerability of the artist,” the Australian director said in a statement.
Austin Butler caught his eye with the role in his Broadway debut The Iceman Cometh, and the young actor was on the road to greatness even before he was cast as Elvis. This list of his most recent projects includes Jim Jarmusch’s horror-comedy The Dead Don’t Die and Quentin Tarantino’s latest film Once Upon a Time … in Hollywood.

]]>Baz Luhrmann’s next film will focus on Elvis Presley’s early years, and its cast is already shaping up to be amazing. Tom Hanks has been cast as Colonel Tom Parker, the singer’s infamous manager who controlled every aspect of his life.
The lead actor is yet to be cast, but something tells us that the movie will be in safe hands. Ansel Elgort, Miles Teller, Austin Butler, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and Harry Styles screen-tested for the role, and they all have a great track record behind them. All of the actors in the running have a singing background, but Luhrmann is yet to pick his favorite.
This won’t be his first time tackling this genre since he previously won an Oscar for the hit musical Moulin Rouge!
