This year’s awards season is entering its most exciting stage, and another major ceremony named their winners on Sunday night. Everything Everywhere All at Once picked up five trophies at this year’s Critics’ Choice Awards, while Better Call Saul was the biggest winner in the television field with three.

Everything Everywhere came into the ceremony with record 14 nominations and managed to take five trophies home. It defeated the likes of The Banshees of Inisherin, The Fabelmans, and Avatar: The Way of Water to win the night’s top award: best picture.

Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert won two awards for directing and writing this project. Ke Huy Quan cemented his status as the Oscar front-runner by winning another award for best supporting actor, while Paul Rogers was named best editor.

Better Call Saul dominated the TV categories with a total of three wins – drama series, best actor in a drama series (Bob Odenkirk), and best supporting actor in a drama series (Giancarlo Esposito). Abbott Elementary, The Dropout, and Weird: The Al Yankovic Story came in second with two awards each.

The 28th Critics’ Choice Awards were held on January 15 at the Fairmont Century Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles, California, with Chelsea Handler hosting the festivities.

The final season of Better Call Saul is just around the corner and it’s bringing many amazing surprises our way. After years of rumors about their potential return, it’s been officially confirmed that Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul will reprise their Breaking Bad roles on the spin-off show.

Better Call Saul co-creator Peter Gould has been dodging questions about the duo’s comeback for years, but he finally decided to address them head-on during a recent appearance at PaleyFest.

“Instead of evading, I’ll just say yeah. How or the circumstances or anything, you’ll just have to discover that for yourself, but I have to say that’s one of many things that I think you’ll discover this season,” said Gould.

Co-creator Vince Gilligan echoed his statement while talking with Variety at the Better Call Saul Season 6 premiere, and said it would be “a damn shame if the show ended without [Cranston and Paul] appearing.”

Walter White and Jessie Pinkman won’t be the first Breaking Bad characters to return in Better Call Saul. Bob Odenkirk as Saul Goodman, Jonathan Banks as Mike Ehrmantraut, and Giancarlo Esposito as Gus Fring are only some of the stars to reprise their roles.

The final season of Better Call Saul will premiere on AMC on April 18 and it will feature 13 episodes.

Better Call Saul will end with a sixth and final season.

The Breaking Bad prequel series will officially come to an end after six seasons, showrunner Peter Gould and co-creator Vince Gilligan confirmed during the show’s Television Critics’ Association winter press tour panel on Thursday.

“From day one of Better Call Saul, my dream was to tell the complete story of our complicated and compromised hero, Jimmy McGill – now AMC and Sony are making that dream come true,” said Gould. “We couldn’t be more grateful to the fans and critics who are making this journey possible.  Next month we start work on the sixth and final season — we’re going to do our damnedest to stick the landing.”

Sarah Barnett, president of AMC Networks Entertainment Group and AMC Studios said in a statement: “Greenlighting a prequel to one of the most iconic series in television history is one of the boldest swings that AMC has ever taken. But, thanks to the creative genius of [co-creators] Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould, it has also been one of the most rewarding. It has been an absolute joy to collaborate with the extraordinarily talented team on Better Call Saul, which — five seasons in — continues to deliver some of the best storytelling and most beautifully nuanced performances on television today. We congratulate Vince, Peter, our producers, writers, and cast on a remarkable run and look forward to sharing this final chapter with fans.”

Season 5 of Better Call Saul premieres on February 23.

Get ready to see lots more of Lalo Salamanca.

Multiple outlets confirm that Tony Dalton has been promoted to series regular on the acclaimed Breaking Bad prequel, Better Call Saul. The permanent gig will kick into action in the forthcoming Season 5 of the show.

Dalton made his debut as villainous drug cartel member Lalo Salamanca, and nephew of Saul in the last three episodes of Season 4 of the show. According to Deadline, Lalo was first referenced in the season two episode of Breaking Bad when Saul Goodman (Bob Odenkirk) was first introduced. Now, fans will get to see his villainous role expanding.

Better Call Saul, like its predecessor, received considerable critical acclaim. The series stars Bob Odenkirk, Jonathan Banks, Rhea Seehorn, Patrick Fabian, Michael Mando, and Giancarlo Esposito.

Over three seasons it has earned 23 Emmy Award nominations, 3 Golden Globe Award nominations, 2 Writers Guild Awards, 3 Critics’ Choice Awards, a Television Critics Association Award and 2 AFI Awards.

Season 5 of Better Call Saul is set to make its return next year.

The role of Walter White in the cult series Breaking Bad opened many doors for Bryan Cranston and he’s open to the possibility of playing this character again. The actor admitted he would be willing to return to this world in a heartbeat – if anyone ever asked him to come back.

Rumors of a possible Breaking Bad film started circling last year, while the spin-off series, Better Call Saul, is still going strong. Cranston would be thrilled to appear in either of these projects if Vince Gilligan decided he wants him there.

“From a realistic standpoint, if I got called to do the movie or Better Call Saul, which I don’t know would ever happen – I really don’t – I would do it in a second. My experience on Breaking Bad changedmy life and my professional life. It gave me opportunities that would not have come,” said the actor during an interview on SiriusXM.

Bryan Cranston had no trouble securing new roles after Breaking Bad wrapped up in 2013. He appeared in blockbusters Godzilla and Power Rangers and received his first Oscar nomination for the role in Trumbo.

Better Call Saul is fantastic but needs to gain some momentum.

The third episode, “Something Beautiful,” was great but we wish things would speed along a bit. The episode saw Jimmy executing his first con of the season, Nacho going to extremes to disguise his new allegiances and Kim Wexler looking like she’s on the verge of another breakdown. Also shout out to the series’ latest Breaking Bad cameo, Gale Boetticher, who made a brief appearance.

Jimmy’s con was essentially stealing an expensive Hummel figurine and exchanging it with a worthless replica. It’s pretty low key crime in comparison with his Breaking Bad antics, hardly the “easiest” $4000 Jimmie will ever earn. Jimmy pairs up with a new partner in crime who you might remember from Breaking Bad’s ‘Vamanos Pest’ company. The new guy takes the place of Jimmy’s first choice, Mike, who rejected him most likely because he currently already has more cash than he knows what to do with. When the new guy arrives at the office to steal the figurine, however, he realizes he is not alone.

Things heat up when we see Jimmy’s con artist hiding under a table while an employee who is sleeping at the office begs his wife to let him come home. Jimmy thinks on his feet and sets off the man’s car alarm so that his man on the ground can escape. The scene is tense but nowhere near as exhilarating as Breaking Bad’s average heist. We’re hoping that things will start to speed up a bit now that Jimmy has dipped his feet back into the crime pond.

More interesting to watch was Nacho and Gus’ men stage a shootout to hide the fact they murdered one of Salamanca’s men. They go to the extreme and quite obviously spiteful measures to ensure that it looks realistic and leave Nacho bleeding out in the sand. The fact that Nacho is one of the few characters that genuinely engage us that we don’t already know the fate of from Breaking Bad, keeps his storyline highly exciting.

Finally, the episode showed Kim looking like she’d seen a ghost when Mesa Verde proposes their new and ambitious business plan. Perhaps she feared their plan was too ambitious or perhaps she suspects criminality, which is starting to shadow every aspect of her previously moral life.

This interpretation could shed some light on her outburst at the end of the episode. The final scene shows Jimmy reading Chuck’s final letter (which is quite nice, so probably written by Kim) and munching on his cereal like he couldn’t care less what the letter says. Kim completely breaks down (more incredible acting from Rhea Seehorn) and the episode ends with us desperately wondering why. Perhaps she is upset about Chuck’s genuine letter or perhaps she has finally seen Jimmy for the man he really is. And perhaps her breakdown tells us that that man is now actually Saul…

The episode certainly gave us a lot to think about but we’re ready for things to heat up properly now.

Watching Better Call Saul Season 4 is the shortest hour of television right now.

Although arguably not that much seems to actually happen in an episode, the Breaking Bad spin-off that everyone’s talking about is some of the best writing and most gripping TV we have seen in a while.

Following the news of his brother’s suicide, Jimmie enters the episode with the same eerily chipper attitude that shocked us at the end of last week. If Chuck’s death has triggered Jimmie’s descent into Saul, then episode 2 is a masterful depiction of what a man looks like when his personal Jekyll and Hyde are at odds.

Unnervingly quick to get back on his feet, Jimmie outwardly decides that he has a responsibility to Kim to get a job so they have enough money coming in. Knowing he can’t go back to law, for the time being, he goes for an interview at a sales company. Watching a sales interview isn’t supposed to be interesting, yet there is something about Jimmie speaking which is captivating even in the context of the mundane. His interview goes alright but on his way out he heads back in to take a further minute of the interviewers’ time and sell himself once more with feeling.

The speech he gives is Jimmie at his best. With a “Ka-Chuunk Ka-Chuuuunk” he blows them both away and convinces them to give him the job there and then, only to turn it down. At this point, we’re staring at our TV’s in frustration wondering what the hell this guy is doing. Sure, sales aren’t what he wants to be doing but why nail an interview only to turn it down and insult the interviewers immediately after? It’s almost as if Jimmie is trying to do the right thing but Saul is whispering in his ear, giving him excuses to say no so that he can have a clear conscience when he phones Mike at the end of the episode to arrange a con instead.

The other big scenes were Kim’s delicious slam dunk when she shouts Howard into the ground and of course, the episode finale when Gus declares ownership of Nacho now that he knows his secret. The lead up to the scene when the Salamanca crew face off against Gus’ men is the kind of tense moment that made us fall in love with Breaking Bad.

So far, season 4 seems to be slowly creeping up to the Breaking Bad timeline but even though we know what happens, the immaculate writing and execution of Jimmie’s character still makes it feel like he could go either way all the while we’re watching him.

The season premiere for Better Call Saul Season 4 marks the official descent of Jimmie into Saul.

The season kicks off with the Cinnabon Gene opening sequence that frames the series. The sequence shows a post Breaking Bad Jimmie in his new identity as manager of Cinnabon Gene in Omaha. His fake identity is put to the test when the receptionist asks for his social security number in an anxious scene after he is rushed to the hospital. The stress continues into the next scene when the taxi driver gives him a knowing, threatening stare. The sequence reminds us how bad things are going to get for Jimmie and how stressful life is when you have to constantly worry about your true identity being revealed.

Opening the season in this way makes it even more painful to watch Jimmie’s descent into Saul Goodman, the corrupt man that secures this fate for himself. It seems that it will be his brother’s death which escalates this descent.

There were several other moments of foreshadowing throughout the episode. The scene where Kim tries to comfort Jimmie with a drink, which she ends up drinking alone before fading out of the scene seems to be suggesting their future separation.

Things also seem to be heating up for the rest of the Breaking Bad cast. Mike receives a cheque for $10,000 and consequently decides to up his game and take his ‘fake’ job seriously. He even signs a birthday card, even though he is meant to be assuming the identity of another man.

There is no word from Hector, other than a warning that even though he is in the hospital, his territory stays the same. Nacho is careful to cover the evidence for the pill swap and Gus seems like he is on to him.

The real crux of the episode was the final scene where Howard admits that he thinks Chuck’s death was a suicide for which he assumes responsibility for. Jimmie’s reaction is shockingly heartless and he shows no remorse whatsoever when he finds out that it was a result of the insurance rise for which he secretly caused. Instead, he seems genuinely cheerful that Howard has taken responsibility and tells him that it is his “cross to bear”.

Is Jimmie genuinely happy that he has caused his brother’s suicide and gotten away with it? The ending seemed deliberately confusing. One theory is that he is so traumatized by his brother’s death that he has suppressed the grieving part of him and has lapsed into the pitiless Saul as a defense mechanism.

Overall, the season premiere got off to a strong start and we look forward to seeing what will happen next as morally ambiguous Jimmie definitively descends into the morally corrupt Saul Goodman.

Now that’s what you call a series renewal announcement!

Better Call Saul has been renewed for season five and it seems star Bob Odenkirk simply couldn’t contain his excitement.

Odenkirk shocked when he dropped his pants showing his bare backside at the Television Critics Association’s press tour in Beverly Hills on Saturday revealing a temporary tattoo in celebration of the Breaking Bad sequel’s upcoming new season.

According to EW while on stage Odenkirk proved his devotion to the show by mooning his new ink of the show’s title with a heart drawn around it and season’s four premiere date, August 6.

“See that?” Odenkirk asked. “I’m a real company man. I want everybody to know when it’s coming back. It was such a long wait. So where can I put the information where everybody will see it?”

While on stage, Odenkirk added that the upcoming season “moves faster” than previous seasons, adding that “the first episode is a slow burn but after that, it moves as fast as possible.”
